  1. In regards to the arrows/bolts having finite amounts.

True it is more realistic to have a finite amount of projectiles.

But on the other hand, in for an example the IE games, you never were in danger of running out of arrows, all you had to do was stock up on a bunch of them before going adventuring, and on your adventures, plenty of adversaries had bolts and arrows their corpses freely passed on to you.

So the factor of always having projectiles for your ranged classes ended up beeing, "did you remember to stock up, spending 2 min clicking between select arrow, buy, then back to select arrow". Which in my opinion was more of a hassle than immersion. Therefor I voted, infinite of nonmagical arrow, but finite amounts of magical arrows.

  2. I would like to see something akin to what they did in, I believe it was, Fallout Tactics (correct me if I'm wrong), where you could choose between fully Turn based, Squad turn based and full real time combat. It gave diversity to the fights.

Although with the full real time combat I would like to see it implemented as it was in IE games, in which you could spacebar the game to pause and think of what to do with the situation, without forcing it into fully turn based

  3. Actually, I'd like to point out that there are plenty of weapons of European origin which are underutilized in the games. Case in point, how often do you see:

    1) Halberds

    2) Spears and pikes

    3) Rapiers

    4) Basket hilt swords like that one :

    5) Military flails

    6) Repeating crossbows

    7) Billhooks

And there's plenty more. Some of those were in the BG and ID games, but mostly neglected in the modern cRPGs.

That said, I wouldn't mind some exotic weaponry as well (like various sabres etc.).

OHH GOD, flails ! I really hope they include flails as weapons.

  4. I'm hoping for something that surpasses Baldurs Gate 1 in regards to available companions.

At least a couple of comps pr class, it gives diversity and improves replayability since you can in concurrent playthroughs pick up different comps and get an entirely different feeling of your party.

I've always felt that there were too few party comps available in Baldurs Gate 2 for instance.

  5.

If they got rid of branching decisions, then I think I and others would withdraw our money and leave. Branching decisions is the staple of good old RPG's and the biggest reason many of us are putting money into this game, removing that and its not even an RPG' its just some on rails game where your actions are meaningless. So its basically would just be dragon age 2.

    This, a thousand times this

  6. Pretty much what Umberlin said but it would be nice to see some older women too. I always think it's strange in RPG's where there are tons of old guys knocking about (mostly wizards) and no women. Especially since women tend to live longer xD

I really love Wynne and Flemeth in Dragon Age

I came here to say this.

I would really like to see old people as playable characters.

I agree, on the other hand if they don't actually let you play them as old, if the story never really is built for an older character and treats you like a young start up for too long? It feels off. The option, I'd love it there, but it can't just be there, the story needs to support it, or, more importantly, not contradict the choice you made.

    True

For example, it was possible to make an old looking dwarf avatar in Baldurs Gate, with grey hair and all, but you were supposed to be the adopted child of Gorian. But once you were past the first chapter I didnt think of the weirdness of it instead I immersed myself in the character I've made.

  8. No voice acting for the main character at all. Partial voice acting for important characters and companions is fine, but absolutely none for the main character. Why? For one, voice acting automatically limits the dialog options, don't say it wont, developers left and right have confirmed this multiple times. You will be limited to stupid dragon age/mass affect dialog options of one liners of good/evil/snarky. Secondly, voice acting is EXPENSIVE and time consuming, the more dialog, the longer it takes to record and the bills start going up. As another pointed out, you have to have the writing locked in place and you can forget any changes later on. Another reason is the characters personality is fixed, again that is because of the limitations of dialog. You will probably end up with a commanding military personality like shepard or hawke, you can forget thoughtfull mage personalities, scared personalities, paranoid..etc. Basically you can forget customizing your personality. Fallout did it correct, it was all dialog except for important scenes and/or characters.

Basically this is what happens when you do voice overs.

I really hope Obsidian sees this post. This is how I hope they will handle voice acting
