  1. I made steam groups a while ago.

Made with the best of intentions I ended up ignoring them as part of me avoiding teasing myself with Eternity details.

I am hiding no longer and very much want to part of the wonderful community here once more.

So I am going to be more active with the steam groups going forward.

Which brings us to the question.

Originally the steam group was named after the working title Project Eternity.

Steam doesn't allow group names to be changed which is understandable.

So I need to ask, keep the old Project Eternity group or make a new Pillars of Eternity group?

Here is a link to the group. Its open to all so anyone can join.

  2. Magic is a truly useful tool in the right hands it can create wonders.

in the hands of a sick and deranged mind it destroys and creates true monsters.

But what of the mind that is deeply unwell but has no want of malice?

Some create items that work rather strange, others make friends that appall us.

Doll - Once a loving gift given to a daughter, a last gift as her father never came home. It was the focus of her anger, her grief and her love. It became the home for her mothers soul.

With one Doll that walked and cheered up the girl soon there would have to be others, her uncle the teddy missing an ear. Her cousins now little wood soldiers.

Eventually the girl became a woman, her mind never recovered.

Her whole village now a collection of dolls. Her death freed them, they now live among us.

Simple children's toys of creatures of malice, we can never be sure.

They don't want their souls trapped in a doll. They seek to trade.

Werebadgers - I don't think that needs explained

  4. I understand many people are apprehensive about the idea of a new kickstarter when the original has yet to be deliver.

Pillars of Eternity is not being worked on by the entire studio. While other projects come to a close the staff working on them need something to work on or they don't have a job.

So it's then down to do Obsidian as a company get another publisher contract for this team or do they want as a company to become more self sufficient.

With the success of the first Kickstarter I don't blame them for thinking about a second (It's working for Double Fine).

I'll wait for the pitch video, if it intrigues me the way eternity did then its getting my money.

  5. As terrifying and wonderful as dragons and demons are.

I always find in fantasy stories the "Normal" creatures to be the most terrifying.

A dragon isn't scared of you it has no need to go anywhere near you unless you annoy it.

A demon is born evil it's actions are simply in its nature.

Normal creatures however can be motivated by fear, hate, envy and greed. They can pretend their your friend and then sell you out.

So by all means give me a low powered interesting villain whose motivations I don't understand till it's too late.

  6. I have returned from my self imposed exile.

I hid from the forums and the site to avoid taunting myself with a game I cant play.

But a little taunting is good for the soul, so here I am and finally used the backer site.

Oh as for the order appearing in the game didn't a few order members back at levels where they could make in game items.

I recall helping someone write some flavour text for a shield from the order.

  7. Been reading up on 7th Sea JayDGee suggested. Some very interesting things there. But it seems a tad too heroic for my style.

Definitely a heroic and cinematic styled game. I like it for its fast pace once the party know the system a combat with over 100 enemies can be done in 5 mins.

  8. Half-Life 3, no.

Half-life 2 Episode 3, yes. There was no doubt Valve was expecting to release the latter.

Valve's approach to the whole thing is fascinating, too, since they basically refuse to even acknowledge the subject. They won't say when they expect to release it or if its even under production anymore. Its either sadism or an extremely bizarre marketing tactic...but given how much crap they had to eat from giving false release dates for Half-Life 2, its hard to blame them for just not saying anything at all.

They don't refuse to say anything, just refuse to say anything directly.

  9. THQ's stocks fell 40% earlier today. They might not even exist in 6 months. They're having a hard time finding money. So all the talk about more "polish" is rubbish.

Ouch, they keep putting their stuff for sale on steam as well. I cant think of any other quick ways to get some money for them. If they do go it will be a shame they have some great IP and I would hate to see EA or Activision take over Saints Row or Metro

  10. Kind of getting the feeling that the delays are as much THQ as Matt and Trey being perfectionists and keeping tweaking things till the end, like they do with the cartoon and their other stuff.

The cartoon doesn't get delayed, episode rather famously gets made in a week. This is mostly to stop Trey and Matt obsessing with script changes :)

If you haven't watch the documentary 6 Days to Air.

A musical will take them 7 years though :)

THQ's financial situation is a huge concern, I don't think they will go under any time soon, I also don't see them not releasing a game that is a potential huge earner for them.

Games get delayed a lot. It is just about the most predictable thing in the industry. By the sounds of things it is only a few months of a delay which is fairly standard.
