  1. I think maybe it was that he wound up with the items in his inventory, where they then would be available to him in the wilderness adventuring.  There are several merchants in the wilderness, so that might be cause for tightening up the way selling/buying back works?  Not sure - but I'd have to be awfully hard up for something to sell it, then buy it back since you have to pay so much more for it that way!

You don't have to sell it. You put it on offer as if you're going to sell it, then cancel the transaction. The item pops into your inventory instead of going into the stash.

Personally, I don't see this as a huge deal. I figure if you're playing with the option not to be able to access the stash in the wilderness, then you'll just toss that stuff back in your stash anyway. I realize this is a sort of "Then just don't do it" statement, but this to me seems like a pretty low priority as far as bug fixes goes.

  2. Yes of course It must be expensive. But Its a budget choise issue. They didnt plan their budget to make full voice overs and I'm not saying that was wrong thing to do on their part. All I'm saying It could bring more sales when game is fully voice acted. There is a potential example: Fully voiceover (and with other lots of cool stuff) the enchanted edition of Origin Sin. If gamers still play old game and like their second run with It or new players who didnt bought the game at first, because of the, not full voice over and this time likes It even a complex game like Origin Sins or even a console player who is not that used to play not hand holding rpg, If these people becomes new potential buyers, this makes the market grow more by not changing the core elements of this beloved style, than It must be observed.

As I said before we should wait and see.

There's some merit to what you're saying, sure. But there's no way of knowing for certain if the resources poured into VO would translate into greater return than applying those resources to more content, fixes, and gameplay enhancements (my instinct is the latter would generate more sales though).

The only issue I see with this is it's trying to change the game from what it is to something else. Kind of like the guy that was whining about the game needing ragdoll physics. Not the type of game for that. And the game was designed to have a lot of reading and little VO. I, like many others, would rather see any monetary resources spent elsewhere.

  3. I had a similar feeling about the game, but finished it anyway. I'll probably give it another go just to see how it's changed through patching (I think I played on patch 1.05 or 1.06, but can't recall for certain) and because I also have the expansion. Anyway, I'd suggest just firing it up again and see how it feels now. That's what I plan on doing at some point in the future.

  4. @Ink Blot

That's what I'm doing right now since this is the only option aside from abandoning it, but it really takes away fun for me because, as I mentioned above, I don't really like to rest often, engaging in combat with tired group and some burned skills is much more satisfying than hitting everything with fresh party.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Something else to consider is take note of where those supplies are and backtrack when you need to rest so you can pick them up. But that's probably a worse solution, since it's much more labor-intensive and requires covering a lot of ground more than once.

  5. I understand it as rather odd topic but still...

This is actually not for making gameplay easier, I'm just a hoarding maniac, can't overcome myself and it troubles me to leave things around which I can't pick. It became worst since I play on Hard now and can carry only 2 supplies, would much appreciate if there's some mod or workaround so I can pick them up (and even if they vanish and don't stack up it's fine for me).

Thing is, we have unlimited inventory (stash) which is my dream came true, I can grab everything I come across, but resting supply limit decision I just don't understand, why not make an option same way as with inventory? It doesn't really make this game much difficult since we can freely go from place to place without penalty and rest, those supplies are very cheap and most merchants have them so they basically everywhere. As for my part I rest way too rarely, and only when I absolutely have to, mostly in inns for special bonuses, so having like 20 camps vs. 2 wouldn't make any real difference, would it?

If you don't care whether you actually stack them into your inventory, but just want the satisfaction of knowing you've left nothing in a container, then rest beside the container, then pick up the camping supplies (thus filling your two slots back up) and carry on.

  6. Stupid question: I purchased and downloaded the DLC last night on Steam. Today I'm trying to play, and I can't figure out how to launch the White March! How do you run it?

I've completed the main game on Easy already and have all my saves sitting there.

Load a save from before you enter the 'pit of no return'. Travel around. You should get a message that there's a letter waiting for you at your stronghold. Go there and talk to the Steward. This will open up the area.

  7. Hey I was wondering if the patch 2.0 will come out for the physical DVD soon? I find it unfortunate that I paid extra to get the DVD but in the end I'm always behind patch wise :/.

Also quick question about White March.

The fact that I bought the physical collector's edition of Pillars by Kickstarter does it give me White March? Also can we instal white march on the DVD version of the game?

    Check This Thread.

Personally, I don't think they gave enough thought to people that were relying on the physical copy, so you're probably looking at delays for all expansions, patches, etc. And no, I don't think you can use the Steam, GOG, or other versions on the physical copy, but wait for Obs' input on that.

  8.

Not to derail the thread or anything, but any thoughts on why you are a chronic restarter? I know why I do it and am truly curious why others do it.

I'm one as well, and there are various reasons for it. Sometimes I want to try different classes. Other times I find I don't have the skills at the proper level or I want to change the talent/feat choices I've made (i.e. built the character wrong). Other times I want to try different dialog options (that aren't available for the character I'm playing or don't fit the concept of that particular character). Sometimes I want to go the total evil bastard route (I generally play the good guy route first time through). Or I want to go with a different party composition. Or I feel like I want to build a character around certain pieces of equipment I know they'll find. Or, I get a new character idea. Or...

  9.

Gog is more than fair about those things, and actually has a 30-day money-back guarantee that states they'll refund the full purchase price if they are unable to get the game you bought from them to run in your system...!  (Did you know about that? I'm assuming the refund policy is global.)  Of course, GOG may very well state somewhere that the expansions to the game are only guaranteed to work on the main game as purchased from GOG originally...Good luck!

I doubt GOG would count that as not working on your machine. The policy is geared towards incompatibility due to OS or hardware. Not because you bought for the wrong game platform.

That aside, GOG has a block in place that prevents someone from buying any expansion or DLC that requires the base game, if that person doesn't own it on GOG. Interestingly, there was a glitch with White March that allowed people that didn't own the GOG version of PoE to buy the expansion, but I think they fixed that. So bottom line is he probably wouldn't be able to purchase the expansion anyway.

  10. I've tried loading the auto Pre Endgame save, and various other saves, and I've travelled to Caed Nua and spoken to the Steward, but I can't get any quests or info about starting the expansion content. Do I really have to go wayyyy back to an Act II save around the time of the Temple of Woedica quest to get this to work?

No, it should work from the saves you're using. I believe you get a notice that a letter has arrived for you, which opens up the quests/area. So maybe try traveling around the world a bit to see if it triggers the letter, then head to Caed Nua.

  11. If they're just going to completely ignore engagement and run off after my casters every. single. time. (as they have been doing) then this entire expansion will be nothing but a constant micromanagement slag of chasing characters around a battlefield. How fun. Yay.

So this makes me wonder about engagement from the other angle: are you able to disengage as easily as the mobs do? If so, I guess we have the return of kiting. If not, then... WTF, huh?

  12. Updating the installer? What? You just download the updates and apply them. You don't need to update any installers. There are no installers to be updated, unless you're using GOG Galaxy, in which case you should complain about that (I wouldn't know).

All the patch files except for 2.0 and the White March itself are pretty small, so you should have no problem downloading them.

The GOG updaters kind of suck, but I've never experienced the trouble you have. Or been that frustrated about it.

GOG often updates the installer package of a game once there are several patches out, and in fact this is what they've done with Pillars. Although there's no reason to DL the entire game install again, since the incremental patches are still available. So I think Wanderon must have gotten a bit confused on what needs to be DLed. I know I had to apply the 1.06 hotfix before patch 2.0 would work. After that, the expansion installed with no issue.

  13. I agree. This means that the purpose of the expansion is to add more content for mid-level parties. I would have preferred a new story after ending with Thaos for high level parties. The original game has enough content and doesn't need to add more. I think Obsidian have commited a mistake.

I want to play the expansion after activating the machine. I don´t want to load a previous savegame. If they not change this, I'm not interested in buying the expansion.

You can choose to have the expansion content scaled to your high level characters. And, as noted, there's an autosave right before entering Sun in Shadows. Surely it's not that big a deal that you start there instead of right at the very end?

  14.

Kickstarter backer here.  I don't seem to have access to the expansion in the "Products" page under my account.  Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm also a Kickstarter backer and the key did not yet appear on my "Products" page either. I'm a gog-user. Maybe Steam-keys are rolling out earlier than gog-keys?

Nope. Got my GOG key over an hour ago and redeemed and DLed it.
