Id like to see bases be linked, like a chest that links to another chest so you can access stuff from far away. Base a has a chest, base b has a chest and they are both shared. Maybe the chest shares a radius to all nearby chests so a whole base inventory can be accessed from another base. Orrrrr... buildable tube systems for fast travel. But to stop spamming it can only be built in a location of a certain level of cozyness this way the game will recognise its being placed in a base and not randomly in the world.
