The patch today fixed this bug. Better late than never!

Yep. The Outer Worlds 2 has a gamebreaking bug on the first quest of the critical main story path and they are not providing any support whatsoever. No posts on the forums, no responses, just radio silence. Hopefully Microsoft didn't fire everybody. I've been blocked on this bug for a week now. I paid $30 extra for early access and was not able to play. Trying to be patient, but this is frustrating.

The game is released now, and I still can't play after paying an extra $30 for early access. Sure hope Obsidian patches this.

Oh wow, does he? Maybe I missed that when I completed the quest. It actually shouldn't be possible to complete it without meeting Inez, she's standing right there. I guess maybe you could choose not to talk to the lady who's been shooting rapitodons standing there lookin' at you and just open the door and finish the quest, but that would be a bit of a stretch.

Unfortunately the patch today did NOT fix the problem. Inez and Milverstreet still just stand there, and I can't get anything to progress. Loading an earlier save before I cleared the drones, Inez still isn't in the room. Clear the drones and she immediately shows up, but the exact same problem, she says her piece about him fixing her arm, then there's no way to progress by talking to either NPC. On the bright side after doing that my game no longer crashes when leaving the Incognito, so that's a plus, but I still cannot play until this is fixed. I assume because I completed Milverstreet's quest before Inez was in the room, and she was supposed to be there for that conversation.

Yep. Game is broken until patched. Would be nice if someone from Obsidian read the forum and gave us some indication our game would be fixed. Honestly if it isn't, I'm going to try for a refund. I lost the entire pre-release period with this bug.

Yep. See if you crash leaving your ship now too.

Oh I've restarted the game several times. I got Inez to show up by killing the last drone group. The problem is that I already completed the quest so Inez and Milverstreet just stand there and there's no way to progress. My char does not have engineering. And now when I zone out of my ship the game crashes to a black screen.

You need to kill all drones to get her to show up looks like. Once you do that try zoning out of the ship. Broke the game entirely for me.

I stole the hologram before meeting Inez the first time. Can’t edit posts on this forum. edit: now it lets me edit? Maybe because I was an unapproved user, every post needed mod approval. Anyway really hoping for a quick patch on this one. If it isn’t fixed before general release, huge bug on the first quest of the main story critical path, hoo boy.

I took Milverstreeet’s mission and yes I did steal the hologram emitter even though I had no quest to do so. Classic RPG behavior.

The answer is to go back and killed some drones at the screenshot area, then when you go back to town Inez will be there there talking to the mayor! Unfortunately for me, after that they just stand there and neither will do anything because I had already completed the mayor's quest like hours back, so I'm still stuck. I tried to zone onto my ship to reset this, thinking it's a separate map. Now when I leave my ship I see a black screen then the game just crashes. So it's TOTALLY broken and unplayable now. Anyway, to anyone playing this, be sure to clear out the drones at the area in my screenshot before turning in the quest after you first see Inez. https://i.imgur.com/vMVgXXY.png

Yes, same here. Gamebreaking for me, I'm not reloading back 5+ hours of play. Bug on the main story quest critical path. Not good. Patch this, Obsidian.

After meeting Inez at the ministry of accuracy and successfully completing that quest, Inez never shows up in Milverstreet's office. I only discovered this was a bug by watching a YouTube video. Is there any way to recruit her now or am I cooked until a patch? Playing on PC, Steam.
