@Oggie: Well I don't know if it is possible to mod the game that way but if you've played it once you might have unlocked the veteran mode which gives you an initial stats of i think it was 90 skillpoints anyway. And you might lower difficulty level to get through the game more smoothly. I'm doing it differently... I'm gonna wait for some time and then play the whole game again. Especially since the veteran mode enables you to have a whole different level of skills from the beginning onwards.
I'd be interested in modding, too. Especially the modeling section. But as sad as it is I don't believe in dev support for modding in near future. The question was asked several times before the release already and Obsidian clearly stated they don't plan to support modders. If anybody can prove me wrong I'd actually be glad.
Sorry for Off-Topic but I felt obliged to comment.

I don't like the idea either... It's kind of ridiculous to announce a sequel of something which doesn't even officially exist until now. I'm really looking forward to play this game and I'm eager to see what they got right and/or wrong. But if they think they have to develop a sequel because they learned so much about creating this kind of game, why do they publish the flawed one?
Whatever. I'm excited about the first one.
I did like the witcher's collector edition too exactly because they didn't put any gadgets in it but the thought of an altair-like little statue of michael thorton would be as cool I guess. Some kind of poster is always nice too
I can understand people would like to put together a whole new story in fact d'jinni from the witcher achieved exactly this purpose. not to be able to modify the game in every aspect until now but to put together a whole new story with the material which there is. My attempt though would be to bring in new items/weapons stuff like this since I'm pretty interested in modelling stuff. In witcher however there is only one available exporter which is for 3dsmax. I've been pretty disappointed about this fact. In fact I liked witcher a lot. But this was a real shame that a RPG of this extension and depth could not really be modified in this way without spending quite a bunch of money (no I refuse to download stuff like this illegally). And this was exactly the point maybe why I didn't play it again. Ergo on the other hand it would have been a great benefit if the game sooner or later gave the community some possibility to modify it and even if it is as late as Company of Heroes Object Manager/Editor.
Anyway I'm sorry I brought up a topic that's already been answered which I didn't know altough I was trying to find the answer somewhere in the web for quite a time.
Hey there,
I'm feeling somehow like the thread starter. I'm still interested in this matter. In particular I'd like some kind of answer from the devs themselves like yes, no or even "We can't tell you, yet.".
