  1. So now rather than Obsidian may be gutted/no more because of one under performing game, or subject to some of the more ruthless publishers out there. There is a chance that M$(semi-ruthless) might end them after 2-3 games..

Of all the big publishers, Microsoft is actually one of the better ones. In fact if Obsidian had to be bought by one, I would of thought M$ was one of the better matches.

I mean come on, they both like to release buggy products.

  2. Fair enough, it probably may appear to undermine the purpose of Greenlight. But there should be terms and conditions that allows Valve that  under certain circumstances to remove games. And more importantly its not like they do this often

Alas what happens Bruce when those terms don't share your views?

This track of thought that we need people to decide for us what to and not play is a slippery slope to bad bad things.

Valve itself has been a fairly upstanding company

Things change, everthing is in motion, nothing stays the same etc etc.

I'm disappointed in Steam to bowing to some public pressure and putting Hatred back

But at  least I can also vote " No "

I was disappointed that Steam bowed to public pressure and pulled Hatred.

But now I can vote "Yes"

And then proceed to buy the game. o:)

  3. So I've finished it. 54 hours, but didn't do anywhere near all the quest, didn't see the point as most were uninteresting.

A good enjoyable game, just not great.

    +The game has fantastic graphics

    +The game is huge

    +Enjoyable exploration

+Enjoyed the NPCs overall (Iron Bull, Solas, Dorian)

+Wraped up some themes from the series

+Enjoyed the expanding of the inquisition (keeps, camps etc)

+Sitting on the throne passing judgement

    +Skyhold

+Interesting decisions when it comes to story quests (would be dependant on keep choices though, and how much you've taken in from previous games.)

    +Art, scenery/armor/architecture.

+Enjoyed the end game, which for me has always been pretty much a chore in bioware games.

+Interesting enemy variation, there is always something different around the corner.

    - Worst side quests in a bioware game ever. I can't really recall a quest where you actually had multiple choices, or multiple ways to complete it. Just really poor. This is probably my biggest knock on the game.

    - Antagonist failure again. You just don't see enough or learn enough about him to make him interesting, he had glimpse of potential though which make it worse. Especially towards the end.

    - Skyhold was really underused, 3 upgrade options that make minimal difference to the appearence or presence of the castle. And the castle remains a mess throughout the game.

    - The mage specializations were completely underwhelming, and they've been completely nurfed thanks to unnecessary MP.

    - Your choice of character is either religous hero, or athiest hero. Self serving options are completely gone, as is any choice that might be considered 'evil'. (betrayal, corrupt, mad etc)

    - Sorry but the complete removal of attribute leveling is just poor, as is the restriction placed on class again. No heavy armor for mages, no dual weilding for warriors.

    Personal quips

    * No Architect despite his presence in the keep,

despite the fact given the antagonist he would play a major part in the world going forward

    .

    * Many of the keep choices don't seem to change anything to the game, apart from the major ones.(Warden alive or dead/ Loghain/alistair) Infact I don't recal one choice from the DA2 keep having any effect besides Hawke sex and class.

*Blood magic is evil throw it down your throat, oh it's this character, blood magic is now ambiguous.

    *Too much Chantry.

*Complete lack of cities/towns, it just feels wired that there isn't one major city/town to visit, and I feel the game is less for it.

*The lack of stat/skills in dialogue is still poor imo. Even the basic intimidation/charm from DA2 is far better than the nothing you get in DA:I.

    * No blood magic specialization, no Arcane warrior specialization.

I certainly found it more enjoyable than Skyrim/Risen or DA2/ME3, but it just lacks certain features that generally I like to have in RPGs.

Yes, I'm going to be playing it from South Korea at 8 AM Denver time  :shifty:

    Got to love VPNs.

Only thing is I'm a bit worried about Twitch banhammering me for streaming DA3 before it's actually unlockable in the US of A.

does that break game's EULA? if not, you are fine IMO

    EA doesn't care.

    Twitch might.

Really? I guess look at their terms of service and say if it mentions anything about VPNs or early release streaming. I know Steam 'can' ban your account for using VPN but they are the only ones I've heard of.

I can't imagine Twitch doing anything unless EA were to complain, given EA doesn't care about people using VPNs, I doubt they would make a complaint. Besides you could always use the VPN early to play the game first, then stream when it's offically released.

  5. http://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-will-no-longer-support-an-offline-mode/

Elite: Dangerous finally launches on December 16, but it won't release with an offline mode. While the functionality was promised during the space sim's initial crowdfunding campaign, David Braben writes in a new development blog that it's not practical due to the studio's efforts to keep the universe consistent for all players.

Backers must be a bit annoyed.

Son of a *****. Was very much looking forward to this. And as a backer very annoyed.

I hope that's not code for "we're launching with no viable solo content".

Now that is just depressing. After X-Stillbirth and SC MMO, this was the last bet for a great SP space sim.

I had to laugh at the thought of that, a Frankenstein monster combining Bruce and Volo...what would this type of  fan want ?  Well for one thing he would expect all Romance dialogue  to consist of only " No, Yes and LOL"

Nothing more complicated than that

    That would be an improvement.

Anyone else find it amusing that reviews are complaining about the story of DA:I? Where were these complaints about ME2, ME3, DA2 and yes DA:O?

And does this possibly mean I will like DA:I story?

    Also spoilers the villain is:

    Corypheus

I doubt it, their standards are likely to be far lower than yours.

Now that is a sad thought. Lower standards than me.

  8. "They refuse to cover it because Daniel Vavra is pro-GG" (emphasis on "because") is a strong claim that needs evidence.

Are there leaked emails from a journalist admitting such black-listing?

Is there some statistical analysis showing that similar game releases (for a useful & detailed value of 'similar') normally do get coverage on those gaming sites?1

Did they cover Vavra's game project before he came out as pro-GG?

    ---

    1)  Lots of games large and small get made every year across the globe; Only a few (mostly American ones) get big coverage on American gaming news sites.

It's a major kickstarter success story, that got plenty of coverage before GG began. Of course it could be because Vavra wouldn't sleep with them, but I doubt he's their type.

Either way they aren't covering it now, which shows just how the clique is still going strong.
