I was looking at class abilities today and thinking something similar. My main question is If the shattered pillar monk gains wounds from AOE abilities such as torrents reach, carnage, and rooting pain, or only from basic weapon attacks (description just says melee weapon damage). If it does work with AOE melee attacks, then the barbarian/monk could potentially be a wound generating/AOE machine (at least vs low DR enemies)... if not then a class that increases single target damage (rogue, fighter or soul blade cipher), might be a better fit for a shattered pillar monk. Another thought... if soul whip/biting whip/draining whip works with carnage, then a "Witch" (barbarian + soul blade), could be a melee AOE destroyer.
