  1. I actually haven't started yet as I'm worried about the beta patch. Good to hear about Pallegina but I was also reading about Aloth and late game dispositions not working properly.

If I do the beta build and Tuesday would like the stable version do I just opt out and wait for the stable version to update? Will my saves work "forward" and "back"?

  2.

    Hello fellow Watchers!

As you may know, we put out a new Patch Beta branch that has our latest fixes for anyone who wants to take advantage of those fixes sooner rather than later.  Your save files will work for this branch, so there is no need to start a new game unless you desire to do so.  Please feel free to continue to post any bugs you may notice that have not already been reported.  Your help finding bugs and giving us feedback has been tremendously helpful and has helped make Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire  to be an amazing game!

These are the update notes for Beta Build 71.

    Major Fixes

    • Fixed mouse functionality issue for users who had their Windows language setting on something other than English.
    • Crew members on Story difficulty can now be killed if they mutiny.
    • Watchers who are hostile to the pirates of Fort Deadlight will find the door to the Court open to prevent the NPCs keeping them in combat without being able to be engaged.
    • Watchers are now able to subdue Scyorielaphas even if all the wards are destroyed.
    • Change to the Pillars 1 history creator now removes options from the list once a choice has been made to prevent confusion.

    Companions/Crew

    • Eder's end game state from Pillars 1 has been fixed.
    • Watchers who took the baby orlan in Pillars 1 will now see her in Vilario's Rest.

    Audio

    • Various VO fixes to the Vox Machina voice sets.

    Miscellaneous

    • Various Credit fixes.

These are the update notes for Beta Build 73.

    Major Fixes

    • Watchers were unable to set or save cloned AI behaviors properly for some classes.  This put the game into a bad state that would delete quick saves upon area transition.

    Audio

    • Various VO fixes to Xoti and Vox Machina voice sets.

    Miscellaneous

    • Various Credit fixes.

These are the update notes for Beta Build 78 - Mac Only.

    Major Fixes

    • Potential Shader fixes that were causing black screens on Mac's with Intel integrated graphics cards.
      • Please let us know if this issue is still occurring on your machine (and what graphics card you have) or if you spot this happening in a particular scene. We have fixed (globally) all instances issue of this we could find, but we are sending this fix to the beta branch before exhaustively testing every scene in the game.

Are these all fixes or just highlights? Aloth, Pallegina and dispositions are still broken right? Anyone who cares about the narrative still can't really play.

So is it universal two one handers are better? Or does that depend on what two handers are in the game and what about if you consider Firebrand/Berath's Greatsword, do those lashes bring them up to snuff?

Seems to be the case. They work but you sacrifice a lot for it. Not only do you do less damage, you also have worse defense. No matter how much I love 2 handed weapons, they really stink compared to 2 weapons in this game. That said, the game is so easy even on potd that it probably does not matter if you are not optimal so just play what you want. Sadly however, if you want big booms, you need to a single class monk to see thousands of damage per hit lol.

I'm not all about ooooo look at the big numbers. I just don't want to be building "wrong" within the tunnel visioned character I have, it is just a single player game after all.

  4. I haven't played yet because I'm waiting for the hotfix/patch. As I seemingly look at all the trees it just seems harder and harder to multi a martial with a caster or caster/caster. Since most things "fight" for the resource points to be spent it becomes a priority game rather than in PoE1 where you used abilities when you needed them but they were once per encounter/rest. Martial/Martial or straight Caster seem to flow the best. Obviously if you gotta role-play you gotta role-play.

For the above it just flows better. Sworn -> Shift -> FoD spam mainly then when you pop out you can use utility. However I'm now on the Fighter/Priest or Fighter/Paladin train.

Edit: Don't listen to me. Anything can probably work even on higher difficulties. Going back to Paladin/Priest (Goldpact/Berath), roleplay away!

  5. I don't know if the debate is that the game can't be hard or an encounter can't be hard because it obviously can. The problem that's being presented here is that the health system allows you to brute force encounters. If you can escape an encounter by the hair on your chinny-chin-chin then you'll be completely fine after.

Then the mechanics of it come into play. In PoE1 any "easy" difficulty didn't matter because you could just camp giving you the same effect as above. I assume this will only be a problem for people wanting to play on harder difficulties as in PoE1 your camping was limited requiring you to be "good" to make it through a whole area/dungeon. However it could still feel cheap to some playing on "easy" difficulties if an "imposing villain" of some sort didn't leave you at least a little banged up.

Then there is the lore side to it. Is healing in PoE suppose to completely stitch you up? The first game would have me disbelieve this as there's plenty of Kith injured that can't simply be healed beyond a grave injury. I submit that most people won't care about the lore aspect though.

Ok, there is something seriously off about save import.

Earlier I had a conversation option "Who are you?" as the result of "my choices in PoE1". I don't seem to know Eder, and he doesn't seem to know who am I.

This one, I think, is normal.  (Although I'll admit that I don't know why Eder's line would have a "Result of Pillars 1" badge.) IIRC, this particular line comes after Ed and the Steward tell you what about the statute waking up and killing everybody. He's not asking how you could know him-- he's asking how you could know what has been going on since you've been unconscious.  He doesn't know that Berath told you.

I believe it's tagged so that you know you're going into a string that will make sense once it's played out even if it seems odd. In this case you're joking around with Eder. He explains your backstory as his and vice versa then you can respond in a playful manner ("that's not right") as he laughs in relief that you do have your memories.

  7.

So using the in-game history editor does spawn Vela for me (for both the choices available) but upon repairing the ship she does not appear in the crew member list nor appears inside the ship at all. I imagine it's going to be the same for those who spawned her with the command console?

Using the in-game editor also caused the sword from the Paths to not appear, though the Yenwood one from the pot in Caed Nua's hall did.

So my choices are between Vela who isn't functioning as a crew member properly and what's probably going to be a sweet-ass repaired sword.

    Amazing

  8. I've been super excited and positive about the game, and so far it's been great fun, but the import bugs are really souring me on the whole thing. I can't think of a single bug that would frustrate me more, to be honest, particularly since it's not realistic for a patch to fix my existing save where I've already had conversations about things that shouldn't have happened.

I loaded my very first Pillars save a few weeks ago, my original character, and did all the White March content with her, and stayed up way too late last night finishing the game with some choices I was really happy with.

Right off the bat it seems like Eder's outcome is not being reflected (he keeps talking about the Night Market, but in my end slides he became mayor). I'm really sad right now, what else it gonna be broken? Am I gonna come across Aloth and he's gonna be the Leaden Key grandmaster when in my ending he was dismantling them? Ugh. Really makes me not want to keep playing.

Good thing they fixed things like dual wield passive in their role-playing game. We don't want to feel too powerful in our single player game. The actual save state feature, THE ACTUAL most important thing, the thing thats keeping people from actually playing.
  9. It's tough it feels like with build this you can't tank two stats like you could in PoE1. I agree with Ensign, you(I) would be an off-tanky damage dealer that would start the fight with priestly spells and throw support when needed, but in general you would be cracking skulls. So...

Str - 10/15/Max (Could go with any here, definitely can't dump it but could get away with lower if you can stack damage elsewhere.)

Con - 10 (Can't dump but 10 is probably fine)

Dex - Dump? (Maaaybe, I'm going 2-hander so I'm already slow so what's a little more)

Per - ??? (I'm 2-hander so with the modal I need this, but it could be dumped, FoD has Acc built in)

Int - 10/15 (This is probably fine between those numbers as long as your'e hitting the party with buffs and effects)

Res - ??? (This is the tough one it's probably all or nothing and I would be fine with nothing but I feel like it's still a dialogue stat even if they say it's not)

Feel like I would go: Max/10/Dump/10/15/Max)

Fun fact the summoned Berath weapon has 50% extra(?) corrode damage or 50% of it's damage is corrode not sure. However they can't actually be Bleak Walkers so it sucks that you can't FoD with all the extra juicy poison damage, oh well. So I guess you just take the 50% corrode for what it is and mainly deal fire all over the place.

I believe you can get double fire pen since FoD is tagged Fire and then you'll just do Fire/Corrode. Maybe that's good in case you run into immune mobs.

Edit: Actually how does it work if you FoD with Berath's sword? (25% White DMG/25% Burn/50% Corrode) or is it staraight up extra? (100% White/25% of the white as burn and also 50% of the white as Corrode?)
