Hello, the avowed section is focused on speculations so I reluctantly post this thread as this is not exactly speculations, but more requests/feedback about things I am hoping to have or not have in game. My first request is one I would post about any rpg: please don't do level scaling or at least make it optional. I like being able to stomp on enemies who have a lower level than me, ad seeing them level us like me feels depressing and destroys the point of progressing and grinding xp through quests and fights. My second request is to make spells epic. For some reason, being a caster in Elder Scroll bored me, because spells felt weak, they did not have a spectacular effect, did not throw away enemies, and fighting with weapons felt better and easier. I woud also like to have good quest marks for main AND secondary quests because this is really a QoL enhancment in an openworld 3d game. and with a lenient fast travel system Finally I hope the game will be released with few bugs and that in the end all bugs will be fixed, and that there won't be quest bugs nor ending bugs. When you invest a lot of time in rpg it is good to know tyour actions have results that are not ruined by bugs.

I read that to make an hypothetic third episode, developers needed to figure why the game was less successful . My memories go back to 2014 when I read a PC gaming magazine that was mentioning upcoming crpgs. Basically, there was that vibe and expectation that Torment, Wastelend 2 and PoE would be the spiritual sons of Baldur, Fallout and Planescape. The revival of crpg was there, and big AAA publishers could be damned. PoE was quite successful and was acclaimed by critics and players. But Poe2? The free exposure granted by the hype generated by journalists was not there. Why? I don't know. There wasn't this "oh look rpgs are resurrecting" vibe?(though there are still many crpgs done on PC this is not what I mean). Maybe the piracy setting felt less appealing to players in an heroic fantasy setting? Pirates are liked in modern pop culture, but I see them more associated to family friendly products like Pirates of Caraibes or One Piece. Then maybe some people had some complaints about lack of technical optimizations, unfixed bugs, maybe the way the game is balanced. Someone said that maybe soe players refer when game mechanics are less balanced and more "broken", but there are builds that favor power gaming. One flaw I found in this game is that the open world sort of weakens the main story a bit. The amount of side quests is welcome, but it comes at the cost of the main story. I had the same critic with Fallout 1 and 2. Fallout 1 has less content but a stronger atmosphere, while Fallout 2 has many many more quests but feel comedic and spread over a huge map, making the ain story less important. Maybe the art and the lore of PoE is less mainstream than Dungeons and Dragons, more complex because of politics and elaborated factions, and maybe that doesn't appea to all players. I also wonder what is the average age of players.Maybe if the game appeals to "veterans" they have less time when aging, though I am sure some teenagers play PoE. Meanwhile Dungeon and dragon games might be a bit more simple, I feel characters are more defined by their races in Dungeons and Dragon games. Meanwhile when I played PoE, and while characters might be conerned about race, I cared less about races than about nations or factions.

Well I know it is part of the "charm" of the game, but I don't like the way tanking work as enemies often seem to ignore the tank despite the punishment they take if they break engagment. There are many situations where even with a fully upgraded Eder some enemies will jump above him and go for casters who are behind, and the the casters either have to take down that enemy quickly, cast a scrol/potion to escape fight without taking penalty for breaking engagment(but even so it doesn't felel optimal) it seems positioning as a lot of importance in the game. I feel mechanics in Infinity games are more user friendly, as they go as far as allowing the player to cast buffs or minions before fights start. I canot explain it clearly but basically there are often situations where I either win the fight easily, either struggle a lot. This happens in all games but somehow, I find the gap in difficulty more extreme in this game. In the crucible some fights are rather easy then suddenly a fight gets much harder and nothing seemt to hint to that. I feel the game is about having a formation and adapting it but this is more confusing than usually in crpgs.

Hello, I started playing PoE in 2017 and completed it. I started playing Poe2 in December and overall I xperienced again the frustration related to fight mechanics, which I don't find intuitive or natural. I can deal with most fights, though I disabled level scaling completely because I hate that in general, but some fights feel unberable and excruciating, like Mega-bosses. I have read they are intended to encourage diversifying strategies and optimizing team, but this feels really frustrating to me(I play on Veteran). I like the story, universe, music of the game, but the fight mechanics are what annoys me as they are too "balanced".When I played BG2, I did feel overwhelmed at times, but I had my own mechanics to counter the difficulty(using traps, summons, Carsomyr was so good). On a technical note, I feel frustrated by the amount of fixes I had to apply to fix performance issues: disabling many settings, telemetrics, chaning settings from nvidia panel control. I had to install game again on SSD to reduce loading times. Even now I still have issues and some crashes once in a while.

The conversaion never triggers but looking at the files the lines of the conversation where they change their mind do exist.I manually changed some values and it did trigger the conversations where they do change their minds, both for maneha and Zahua.Maneha should disagree with you if you do not wipe her memory, and Zahua should agree with you if you convince him that his legacy is not a positive one:""This burden of memory is not an ill one. It has made Zahua the warrior he is, and he will pass it on to those he teaches." If Zahua has a negative eperception of his legacy.:""Memory has been only a snare for me. It was a distraction that kept my soul from freedom.""otherwise:""For all their history and teachings, the Tacan were not strong enough to survive. It does them no honor to pass on their weakness. To repeat their failings."</DefaultText>" All the players I asked to were never able to have Zahua side with them, or Maneha NOT side with them. Regarding Maneha, here is what she says if she does not side with you(if you did not let her go into the pool). "DefaultText>"Believe me, I wanted to let it go. But that would've been spitting in the faces of the people I wronged." She shrugs, but even so, she looks pained.</DefaultText>" As far as i Can tell no one was ever able to get those lines without editing files.and yet thos elinesappear, they can be triggered. To read thos elines, just go here; E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data_expansion2\localized\en\text\conversations\px2_04_eyeless_stronghold

Hello, I am making this thread because of my personal experience with PoE and also because of things I have been reading lastly. I played all fallout games but 4, and all Baldur's Gate Games, as well as Planescape Torment, so I like CRPGS. I enjoyed PoE overall, even though some elements of the gameplay frustrated me, like having to relya lot on tanking mechanic and not being able to pre-buff before fight. Two things however make me hesitate. I reported that Maneha and Zahua hads bugged conversartionsrealted to the Eyeless Quests, as both of them always side with you(Maneha) or with the Eyeless(Zahua) regardless of the choices you make. As there was no offocial solution from staff, I had to play again and go to that point and bring Maneha with me after making sure she decided to wipe her memories, so that the conversation with the Eyeless would be logic. But that means that to this day, anyone who wants to temper the Eyelessmemories is A=forced to bring Maneha because Zahua wont use his scripted answer where he sides with you.B=Bring Zahua but manually edit the script files because otherwse he will be stubborn. No need to say I tried all possible combinations during Zahua quests to see if this would bring him to change his mind.I waited for months, sent emails to staff, tried twitter, contacted CMs, but no solution has been found yet. The second element making me hesitate is the Avellone incident. I am not sure about who is right, wrong, or if responsibilities are shared like in a divorce. But I would like to be sure that the alledged issues Obsidian has will not impact the quality of upcoming games in close and distant future.

Frustration about eyeless ending
fireflame replied to fireflame's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I have lookd further andi have a guess that may help developers. I suspect that something is preventing the game from interpreting properly <string>n_Zahua_Legacy_Axis</string> and <string>n_maneha_pool_decision</string>. Aloth and other characters decisions are interpreted properly. Here is my guess. It might be a matter of + or -. I am saying this becaus ei suspect this problem is the very same problem you had with Fallout New Vegas years ago, when it was impossible to get the followers of Apocalypse good ending. The bug was then fixed by replacing a + with a -(or the opposite). I think it is a problrem like this. So I thinkit it could be great if a developer could have a look at the values related to Zahua and Maneha personal quests, and why they are not triggering the proper dialogs during the Eyeless quest -
I have beaten the game, but in order to get Zahua to side with me during the debate with Eyeless, i had to edit a file. I had convinced Maneha to remember her past, so the only remaining choice to temper their memories was Zahua. No matter how i solved Zahua quest(i tried many dialog options) he would keep stating pain is good. I tried to ccriticize his legacy becaus ei was told the character has a "legacy" value that should be below 0 if you want him to side with you against the Eyeless. But that did not work. In the dn: bringing zahuato see eyeless before completing his quest does not work. Completing his quest does not work. Completing his quest and critizing his choices does not work. Trying to comfort him does not work either. And yet, the dialog files where he sides with me vs eyeless exist in the game, and i could trigger them by replacing a file value that triggered the correct dialog. I would like to know if someone managed to convince Zahua to side with the hero without having to edit any file.

Hello, i have been struggling to temper the eyeles because i do not want to edit the values in files. I chose to not have the barbarian forget her past, so i have to use Zahua. But not matter the way i complete the quest, he keeps supporting the eyeless and saying burden of memory is good. I tried to use negative answers during his quests to lower the "legacy axis value". But this does not change anything. I think Obsidian should add more options to allow us to temper the yeless memory, using the traditional "might/honest/your class/ perception, etc values as alternative ways to solve the quest. Specifically, the point about the burden of past requires you to have specific companions, which feels counterintuitive and annoying.I have played many rpgs and the way you get the eyeless to temper their memories feels lacking.
