  1. I found out the command to lock the zoom to a certain resolution.

The command is SetZoomRange x y (where x and y are both floats and the min and max zoom range) and then press Enter

But to my dismay, if you lock it at a high resolution, it doesnot keep that resolution in small indoor areas. Can this be fixed ??????????????????????????

    I'll upload a picture.

  2. That doesn't really seem like a major issue. The zooming level inside buildings are just zooming in on the relevant part of the map. If you're in a small hut and zoomed all the way out, you'd just see blackness anyways.

It is not a major issue but it does take me out of the experience. I want the full BG experience without auto zooming all over the place. If the dev team could put an extra option in the options menu to not have automatic camera zooming but instead have a fixed fully zoomed out view, I'll buy all the DLC.

The small house in Neketaka keeps you fully zoomed in without the option to zoom out.

There is automatic zooming during certain events like the Pallid Knight talking to you in the intro.

  3. Too slow. She's also very dramatic but has no character and that's a pretty uncomfortable combination. Someone earlier linked IWD2 intro:

Listen to that by comparison. That is a young female narrator and it sounds amazing. She makes you want to hear what she has to say. People think that narrators need to be generic and featureless but that is completely incorrect. They need to be consistent, yes, and with a broadly appealing manner but if you don't care about the person telling the story you don't care about the story they have to tell.

There's plenty of examples of excellent female narration out there (remember LOTR?). It doesn't have to be the baldur's gate guy or bust. For people saying they like this narrator, I have a question.

Would you want to listen to an audio book narrated like that?

The voice is from Kath Soucie who also voiced Aerie in Baldur's Gate 2.

  4. There are two doors to that spiked room i believe and 1 of them doesnt require mechanics to get in.

Yeah I can enter the spiked room without a problem.

I already figured out a solution to my problem. There seems to be a key in one of the lantern posts (which I first missed) that opens up a locked lantern post which holds another key. The latter key opens up all the doors on that level.

  5. This floor contains locked doors that require a very high mechanical skill to unlock. None of my characters have what it takes to unlock those doors. I watched a playthrough and there seems to be a hidden key in a locked lantern post in the room with all the spikes. But once again my mechanics skill is not high enough to obtain that key. I guess I'll just quit the dungeon alltogether.

  6. Yeah, this happens everytime.  I did verify the integrity already as well as uninstall and reinstall and it still does the same thing.  The game launches with a black screen, the music kicks in and the mouse cursor is the gauntlet, and then the Steam Shift+Tab menu pops up in the bottom right and when it goes to minimize it leaves a trail on the black screen like in the screenshot I attached.  I tried launching the game from the install folder directly instead of going through Steam but the same thing happens minus the Shift+Tab menu part.  Also, when it's sitting there I can click something that brings up a link to the Steam Store page for DLC or something so it's loading everything in the background but not displaying it properly.  I've also made sure my display drivers are fully up to date so that's not the issue either, as well as doing a restart just in case.  Thanks.

I have the very same issue with the gog version of the game. Black screen while I hear the background music playing.

  7. I'll play relaxed or classic mode the first time. I backed Deadfire without having played the original. Now that I finally got my hands on it, I am getting my butt kicked while playing on easy difficulty. Making a 6 th companion join my team surely helped in defeating Lord Raedric. The trash fights in open nature also don't feel so trashy to me. I have the feeling that PoE is harder than the first Baldur's Gate.

  8. There was a major issue regarding the zooming feature in POE 1. If you were fully zoomed out and entered a small building it automatically zoomed in. You were not able to zoom out. That bugged me.

How it should work? The zooming level should be kept when transitioning from outdoor to indoor areas. From fully zoomed out outdoors to fully zoomed out indoors. From fully zoomed in outdoors to fully zoomed in indoors.

    Thank you.

  9.

They can still put the game on the disc though, even if it's not DRM free like last time you can still have a proper game disc.

Sure they might save some money on not printing the game, but my guess is that they are going to get a pretty big backlash at release if all they are giving people is a steam installer. I don't frequent these forums very often and had I not seen a message on fig about this thread I never would have known about this issue, but my guess is that there is quite a few people out there that will have no idea about it until they actually receive their "game disc".

It's almost better not to have a disc in the box at all, because getting a disc with a steam installer feels more like they are mocking you then anything else. Only thing that's missing on that disc is a sound-file that plays Nelson's 'HAA-HAA'.

Indeed - I'm one of those backers. For some reason I haven't seen this thread while the campaign was still running - I never would have backed the physical version if I had known the disc would only contain a Steam installer. What's the point of a DVD if you have to be online to use it? If I wanted to have the Steam version I would have backed the Steam version...

Please at least put the GOG versions for Linux, Mac and Windows on the disc - you can still tell people that they need to register their copy at GOG or Steam to get updates...

I am the TC and that is what I hoped as well. Now the physical edition backers seem to get the digital GOG version as well. That is better than nothing.
