  1. yes the two are dissimilar enough to be very distinct languages and similar enough to confuse the hell out of you (and the people you are speaking to) when you are trying to have a conversation in Florence.

  2. Chris Avellone: The Sith Lords takes place five years after the end of the first game; much of the backstory of what happened will depend on choices the player makes in the first portion of The Sith Lords, which describes the events that followed after the end of the original KOTOR. I don't want to give any spoilers right now, but there's no one answer for what happened - it all depends on what happened in KOTOR 1.

so again, how's the game supposed to know Revan's appearance?

  3. jesus... it is a focking lightsaber. IT ISN'T REAL. IT CAN NEVER BE REAL. Stop debating what it takes to make it function. It takes imagination. THAT IS THE ONLY COMPONENT IT TAKES TO MAKE IT FUNCTION PROPERLY. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT, YOU SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING THESE GAMES.

  4. IMHO... there are just too many conflicting things that could have happend to Bastila (dark side, light side, dead) in KotOR to have her come back as a party member in this game. Even though you have some initial questions at the beginning of the game, your answer choices aren't going to have THAT dramatic of an effect (from what I have read) on who will be in the game and who will not. Thus, I would like to see her in the game in a cameo (or AT LEAST mentioned), but I wouldn't be surpised if we don't.

  5. I completely agree that the game does not make sense on many levels. I am not debating that one bit. But we aren't debating (and in turn, trying to resolve discrepencies) historical facts; this is fictional history. I doubt Lucas, or any original writer, EVER intended it to go this far. Hell... even Lucas himself was initially surprised at how well the films did. But these are games intended soley to entertain. If players are SO wrapped up in discrepencies that they can't enjoy the game... honestly, that is THEIR problem. The masses loved it to death, and thus, BioWare achieved enormous success. We all noticed that KOTOR, for being set 4000 years in the 'past', didn't seem to be THAT old. But most of us didn't get so bothered about it that we couldn't play the game and enjoy it. If 'YOU' did... then 'YOU' have issues that go way beyond the accuracy of KOTOR.

  6. guys... its a star wars GAME. GAME. Hades.... if you were in control of this aspect, how would you have done it?

One rule though: You aren't making the game for yourself... but you are a developer in charge of creating a game that will appeal to the masses. How would you have changed KOTOR enough so that it looked like it was set 4000 years prior, but yet still felt like it was a star wars game?

  7. 3. That is simple. We are watching the actions as a native speaker of the most common language.

You are absolutely right. And all this time I was thinking it was because Lucas wanted Americans to understand his actors in the movies. I'm so stupid.

And from the looks of things... it doesn't look like you are exactly a "fun loving guy" to begin with. I mean come on... you hate easter eggs.

  8. when was a whip created? After the medieval ages...hell no..the whip is older than medieveal ages..hence a ledgendary weapon. Btw...its a blend of more than classic euro. knighthood.

Jedi are knights. Plain and simple. They are modled off of knights of enlish lore. Plain and simple. Find me ONE valid example of a Knight using a whip as a weapon in battle and I'll support your idea FULLY.
