  1. I agree HADES ONE. The problem is compounded by the fact that in the D20 engine, your character becomes exponentially more powerful as your TO HIT and other statistics go up, until you can't be hit anymore, or always critical, etc. This isn't final fantasy, where you just get more hitpoints and damage per lvl, but the monsters go up so it remains even. In D20 your abilities get drastically better in damage AND bonuses, like stun. Remember, a lvl 20 D&D 3+ character is considered god-like.
  2. Dear Devs: Add 16x9 and 16x10 Widescreen modes /resolutions, just like DOOM 3 and World of Warcraft have done. It stinks having a widescreen laptop or TV and having to stretch KOTOR or display black bars to get the full detail. This is especially true on LCDs: when you run at nonstandard resolutions for your LCD you use a lot of contrast and sharpness! Also, LAPTOP LCDs are actually 16x10, NOT the standard 16x9, so that's why i say include these resolutions. Also, since humans have more peripheral vision than they do up and down vision, widescreen is actual the more "natural" and realistic shape of any type of video display. This is why filmmakers have chosen widescreen formats for 70+ years, b/c they know that widescreen is more natural and pleasing to the eye. Your game should do the same, as should all computer games and movies. Even TV is switching to widescreen.
  3. Actually, the poster is totally justified in trying to figure out how a lightsaber would work. For example, Lucas used the convention of Hyperspace, or extra-dimensional travel, to get around Einsteins general relativity. Lucas knew nothing could travel faster than light according to normal physics, so he tried to conceive of a plausible way aroudn that limitation, something that is already conceived of by scientists, although loosely. The point is, he made the effort to explain his universe. This poster is doing the same thing in trying to explain limitations of a true "light" saber. Light can't reflect objects with mass, but an EM field could, the heat of plasma could go through metal, etc. It's also something that is already being tried in fusion reactors, it would produce that cool color, etc. As for other ways of making a high-tech sword, can YOU think of another conceivable technology that could reflect energy bolts with accuracy? In fact, his explanation is so good it really should become the Star Wars EU reference standard. You guys need to realize that if there is no plausible explanation for a device in a science fiction setting, it ceases to be sci-fi and becomes purely fantasy. If you don't need an explanation for how things work, that's perfectly fine, HOWEVER, some ppl like to think of Star Wars as adventures that might in the future some day be possible or nearly
  4. Nah... "Strong am I with the Force... but not that strong" :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What the poster is forgetting is that Diablo and MMOs are online, skill-based games that don't rely on story very much at all. Having no lvl cap is fine for a level-treadmill type games. But KOTOR is a story-based game with character development. Besides giving you more powers, the lvls are designed to allow you to roleplay. Story based games HAVE to control your lvl progression or there would be ridiculous things like ppl being lvl 30 when they get to the lvl 20 endboss, etc. What you need to understand about game design is that designers don't add a feature to a game unless it clearly will enhance "fun." What would be so fun about going around killing low lvl goons to lvl your characters above anything else in the game? Is there something fun to you about running around killing the same enemies over and over in order to be twice the lvl of the boss? Think about whether your suggestion would actually add fun before you ask it. I'm guessing that the 33.3% of ppl who asked for no lvl limitations probably couldn't even tell you why it will make the game more fun, they're just asking for random features b/c they can.
  5. 1.) More control over outcome of the story. 2.) More NPC avatars, and re-use old ones when appropriate so that there is more variety. 3.) NPCs who react to you differently based on your past actions and alignment. 4.) More music (you can reuse old here as well! Variety is good) 5.) More side quests. 6.) Certain weapons, items, armors, and implants should change your alignment, just like Darth Vader and Malak. 7.) Alignment should play a larger role, have two main tracks in the game. 8.) Better ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt cheated last time, like they didn't spend any time on it at all. I thought there would be some type of epilogue. Technical: 1.) 16x9 widescreen mode 2.) THX certification 3.) In-game grayscale calibrator with gamma, contrast, and brightness, as well as a reference picture, like UT2004. 4.) Higher-res textures on environments. 5.) Higher-poly environments to avoid blockiness of KOTOR 1.
