  1. Theres apps that let you record what is being displayed at the time. How ever to do this means the higher the quality of the graphics are set the larger the space the recorded time will take up. Avg take up is like 100mb for 30sec. So use the lowest res and graphic settings you can to get what you want.

One of the apps that does this is "Fraps", http://www.fraps.com/

  2. When your system just shutsdown is usaealy because of a power relaited issue. Either because there was a power spike from the source or there was over voltage used by the system componets that the power supply unit could handle.

For the first part, make sure you have either a battery back-up (Uninterupted power supply), or surge protecter.

For the second get a higher watt PSU.

  3. How long has it been since you've done retine maintence on your system?

    Defrag.

    Clean temp files.

Clear slack space (this is whats happening when Windows defrag says "compacting files")

Clear orphened registry entires (Best to get a registry cleaner for this if you don't)

Got enough voltage from the PSU for the new hardware?

Whats the free hard drive space like?

Disabled the unused Windows serivces (services.msc)?

^^^^^All that if not maintained can slow a system down as if it's running Malware.

  4. Need more info then just card names. Both cards do have AGP and PCI-Express versions as well as vram from 128m-512m. How ever clock speeds on both are about the same side from 10/500 more in favor of the x800gto (factory OCed card).

AGP is 4x/8x data pipe width while PCI-Express is 16x data pipe width.

  5. I run the high res patch at 1024/768 res. I did once with out the patch. I can tell the difference between the two. But to effectively run 1600/1200 you'll need more closer to a 23" moniter, I have a 19" and it can barely do 1280x1024 while maintaining a 85hertz refresh rate and have readable standerd size text.

  6. Other things other then just hardware and ingame settings comes into play with adjust performence.

-Service's running, Windows by default has a high number of services running that you never or likely wont use.

-Pagefile size and location, a pagefile set to at least 1gig min and max on a seperate physical drive will allow the OS to access the data on it's drive while having time to let the pagefile to access the pagefile with out moving the read head.

-Free space on HD, More free space equals faster HD read/write speeds.

-OS application resource priority and timing, The higher the priority the more time the OS allows for the applaction to use the resources.

-Indexed and OS compressed files, Indexed and compressed files reduce the read/write speeds of the HDs.

-Data fragmention, reduces the read/write speed of HDs.

-Amount of low size clusters created by empty folders and 5k or smaller files,

Higher the number of these the more slack space is on the HD...it's not free space and it's not used space but it does reduce read/write speed of HDs.

-Temprature of the hardware, Higher the temp of hardware the slower it preforms.

-Amount of free voltage from the power supply, The more free voltage the more that can be given to hardware to preform at it's fullest while in high use.

  7. Yes. 4 actions totaling one direction of favor to the Exchange will trigger the Red Eclipse. How ever 7 actions one direction of favor to the Exchange will trigger the Visquis Call. Each action counts as one. A couple give more points: taking care of the Pazaak den gives 2, paying the bat gives 3. Some actions do not adjust either way. It is easy to get to the total of 4...I have seen that not even reached. The total of 7 I've seen frecently not reached. Meaning that if you do an equal or near equal amount of actions both ways you wont get the Call and have a chance not to get the Red Eclipes.

This is not something you can edit in the KSE...I've tried, it will show you the total points both ways you have gathered. Best option is starting the planet over from a save before comeing to the planet.

Try not to follow the guides. Use them as that, guide lines. There is multiple paths and out comes...the guides only list ONE of more then a dozen possiable.

  8. KotoR2 use's ALOT of vertex shaders which can cause a nasty amount of graphics lag. These are used to create the smoke and fog...two of the larger lag creaters, shadows being abit bigger.

Half Life 2 was designed to run on much lower grade system but maintain visual quality. Yeah a rarity to see with titles now. Doom3 equaly high with visual quality but instead of useing directx it use's opengl which it's engine hasn't been updated for some time.

post a dxdiag, lets see if we can make it run smoother at least.
