  1. Actually, it will depend from game to game. Far Cry, for example, saw about a 3 fps increase after the processor upgrade + tripling the RAM (1.5 GB). Clearly it's more GPU-based, and the X700 is but only decent for it if it's on full. CSS and JKA both saw right about 150% increase (60 to 90 and 100 to 150, resp.). Also I can now play Dantooine on KOTOR I/II without disabling vertex buffer objects and still get a decent 20 fps, as oppose to about 5.
  2. P4s are old, even those with HT. They heat up a lot and take up WAY too much power than they should. Athlon 64s or eve X2s generally take up less wattage from your PSU than p4s, and they perform better than P4s. P4s usually take up anywhere from 85-130 W. The new Core 2 Duo/Conroes will likely be pulling in excess of 150 W, just for comparison. A low-wattage P4 is equivalent in power consumption to a medium or high-wattage AMD Athlon 64/X2. What about graphics? Take a screenshot of this with printscreen: control panel --> display --> settings --> advanced --> adapter Then press PrntScrn (upper right between scroll lock and F12), paste into paint, upload to your photobucket. If it sucks beyond belief, it will probably say "Intel ____" Intel graphics, ahaha. I remember the days when my comp was crap. Then I got a job. ><
  3. Used that, it proved already up to date. Uninstalled, reinstalled, tried again, same problem. blarg
  4. The solution to all of this is buy AMD X2's for cheap now (I didn't though, I was on a budget), then build a conroe system later instead of paying top dollar.
  5. Think I've got the patch, unless there's a more recent one, guess I can check.
  6. After Kreia gets left behind and I have to go through the fuel lines, once I try to go into the next part (peragus docking bay or whichever), it returns to the main screen and freezes up. To stop it I have to go into taskmgr and end process. So yea, kinda stuck there. Suggestions?

  8. Worked indeed, many thanks. Do you know where I can find more commands like that which I might put to use?
  9. For some reason, I get a LOT of lag on Dantooine--much more than all the other places I've been to at this point (it's my first Jedi planet so far). Is this normal? Here are all the possibly relevant specs I know: AMD Sempron 3000+ (2.0 ghz, 512 KB L2, 333 Mhz fsb); 256 MB ATI Radeon X700 Pro, 8X AGP; 512 MB DDR RAM; 120 GB HDD (Samsung) 48x CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive. It happened with KOTOR I as well, dunno if there's a direct correlation since that was Bioware.
