Torrent's reach infectious and other glitches
Edrin replied to Edrin's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
For the force of anguish bug, nothing special, I just hurt the monk until he uses it. I did not try to reproduce it with my own monk. For the disengagements bug, I don't know, it just happens sometimes, but it's easy to miss. For the torment's reach, all I do to get it is use it on group of at least three enemies (the more the better), but they don't present themselves in the right way very often. -
Torment's reach infectious
Edrin replied to Edrin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I posted it in the tech support, with a few others. My game is getting impossibly hard whenever I encounter monks. -
Seems i'm not the only one to see this as a bug, so here it is: Targets in the AoE of torment reach create a new AoE behind them, the result being a uber powerful move when you have a few enemies waiting in a line. I mean, I had a 20 hits and 21 crits on two rows of maybe 6 packed enemies, including two instant kills of fresh enemies at the end of the lines. Seems some mechanics are getting broken Also, the force of anguish seems to sometimes have AoE it should not. In this case, I had two caracters knocked prone. And a bit later, I had this strange log, if only one victim: The clear out abilities from enemies seems much too big in some occurrences, compared to mine. The engagement arrows sometimes span very far, like, 10 meters (especially when one of the engaged is pushed or teleports one way or another), and the disengagement sometimes goes wild, like in these cases: On that last screenshot, Edrin was moving from the right when it happened. Here is a save where you can try and experiment with the torrent's reach, if the enemy are willing to position properly.

I just realized that targets in the AoE of torment reach create a new AoE behind them, the result being a uber powerful move when you have a few enemies waiting in a line. I mean, I just had a 20 hits and 21 crits on two rows of maybe 6 packed enemies, including two instant kills of fresh enemies at the end of the lines. I don't remember this ability was self replicating before 3.0, am I right? Or maybe it's just my save, which seem to have some rare minor glitches like the wall of fire doing next to no damage or some mobs changing race. If not, this completely change the power of the already powerful monk, and mine already seemed quite stronger than any of the companions. Any thought about this?

Crystal eater wrong ennemy type?

Here is my log. And I thought this was a simple one… output_log.txt -
Keeping enemies engaged?
Edrin replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It seems that whenever a character uses an active ability like knock down or a spell all its engagements are broken. I didn't really check on it, as I figured this out only recently, but if this is right, it's good to know. But what really seems strange to me is when I get disengagement attacks on stationary targets. Then I wonder if I really got the meaning of this mechanic… When I say stationary, I mean absolutely stationary. Most of the time, it's hard to tell if the IA didn't decide to check if the next pixel wouldn't be more comfortable, but sometimes, they really couldn't have, like in this case: As you may know, dank spores cannot move, giant or not. It seems a bug to me. -
Crystal eater wrong ennemy type?

I tried again, and got the same result. Seems so strange that you didn't get the glitch… As one picture is worth a thousand words, I got you two screenshots, so I'm sure to make my meaning clear. And another save, with the baddies on the screen. https://mega.nz/#!fxUiSYIY!sZr4btFvCDe7f4PAMEVTwjhKP0NbSdcAkdlcPhgkaIc -
Crystal eater wrong ennemy type?
Edrin replied to Edrin's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
My cache? Do you mean steam's? Because I have GOG's version… I just reinstalled it on another drive anyway, as the latest patch finished to fill the disk it was installed on. I'll retest it. -

And now I found out the vithracks are supposed to be wilders… There definitively is something fishy in this level. -
Crystal eater wrong ennemy type?
Edrin replied to Edrin's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I figured only a few of the crystal eaters have this problem, as I just found a "beastly" one. I found them in the level 9 of the endless paths. Spoiler alert Begin: One is in the right corner, accompanying three vithracks and the other one is a bit further down, alone in the corridor. The next one I found was a beast again, in the room with a pit. Also, I could target only one of the vithracks in the corner with the charm beast spell, while the three of them were marked as beast. I didn't bother to cast the spell. Spoiler alert End Here is the save at the beginning of the level. https://mega.nz/#!71UHwQqB!G7N4SqxW8Gyi6Lu84utb4-CK0Gx5_z_c6sfkojOaFIA -
In the bestiary, crystal eaters are marked as beasts as the other spiders, which seems logical. When encountered in the world, they are marked as wilders, which seems strange. The result is that Hivarias isn't able to charm them, and I suppose heroes get the wrong bonus from specialized weapons and skills.

Gréf's authority cannot be cast
Edrin replied to Edrin's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Ok, I found it, in the objects powers, of course… If any other one ever wonders. -
Seems like it is just a bug with the forum's automatic link detection, which skips the part of the address after the second “!” character. here is a manual link… https://mega.nz/#!3oN3iarD!31I4rTzqkHbWicOrlK7UNbeem9ZKMGbBrigRGYrqXj0 Edit: … which is still buggy at display, but seems to work. Here, fixed it for good. I hope…

Cloudpiercer and wounding shot
Edrin replied to Edrin's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Well, the other one, of course ! The bow Cloudpiercer causes its first critical hit in a fight to unleash a Jolting touch spell, which hits the original target and an additional nearby target, if available. -
Cloudpiercer and wounding shot
Edrin posted a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It seems that, if your first crit with Cloudpiercer in the combat is done while using wounding shot, the resulting jolting touch works all right, but the wounding shot proc is given to both targets. I assume this is an oversight and a bug ? -
Hi, It seems like Sarah forgot to come back to check, but I can give you precisions, as I happen to have exactly this right now. The clickable soul under the arch is still clickable while in combat, and this click takes precedence over any other order. And there are mobs under that arch. What she probably wanted to say is that that object, the soul thingy, like the loot left by dead enemies, should not be clickable while in combat. If only because of the immersion, but also because it ruins your orders, prevents you from attacking mobs passing under the soul, or casting spells over that spot. And especially the archers whom, instead of attacking, will go to the soul in order to interact instead of firing. Here is a link to a point in the game where you can see it at work. Just walk a bit to the south, and try casting some area of effect spell on the soul, or to attack something that would have crept under it. https://mega.nz/#!3oN3iarD!31I4rTzqkHbWicOrlK7UNbeem9ZKMGbBrigRGYrqXj0

Fragments of a scattered faith bug
Edrin replied to OverDrone's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't have such save. I tried from my current save, and here was that standard piece. I suppose I just missed it the first time, although it seems unlikely? I don't know... Sorry for the useless post. -
Drake's breath has no effect?
Edrin replied to Edrin's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I doubt this bug depends on my save. This typically something any one fighting a drake will have. And I think I killed pretty much every drake out there before realizing it. And also, dropbox is evil, and also asks for my cash or for a new account every few weeks. -
Fragments of a scattered faith bug
Edrin replied to OverDrone's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Bump! Will this bug ever be fixed? I mean, we are three months later, and I still cannot finish this damn quest. Not because Eder wasn't in my party when I picked the item, but because I got there before I completed the previous stage of the quest. -
Drake's breath has no effect?

Is it me, or maybe some kind of protection I didn't know I had? every time I am “breathed upon”, I don't take any damage nor debuff or anything. -
What about a pause button?
Edrin replied to Edrin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I knew these kind of remarks would come, whatever efforts I would make to avoid it. Still, it's annoying and a bit disappointing. I understand it's difficult to see how I feel these things when you don't feel them the same way. But please, do not presume how I should feel, or how anyone (including yourself) should feel about anything. Please know that this kind of remarks tend to be felt as offensive, and sometime can result into conflict. It's not like I chose to feel things this way or that way. Or did you chose to feel the way you do? I just feel the need of the autopause options, and I am annoyed by the lack of control of the current manual pause. And Ymarsakar, thank you for obviously thinking I am not smart enough to have made use that feature by myself. It's not like this game is intended for five years olds as their first approach in using computers… I don't thing I would like not being able to pause just because of such a cooldown, but why not? Precisely. Not to go away, nor because motor impairment, but because the autopause sometimes pauses the game just on the millisecond I try to pause it, making me unpause it instead, often several times in a row, which is annoying. Thank you for your suggestion, seems like Fenixp could like it. I tried to be as clear as possible in my OP, with redundancy to be sure, with simple words. Unless my English is way worse than I thought you didn't read or understand what I wrote. Which mean you probably wont read this, but still. It would be wise of you to actually do both, and then read the other replies before posting. Otherwise, you will end up role-playing a voice recorder / parrot, or answer a question no one asked. Although parapraxis can happen to anyone, even while reading / answering forums posts (hope it's the right word in English). Thanks for your kind efforts anyway. To unfriendly_cat and Hugo Rune and Fenixp, who agreed such an unpause button is a good idea: Thank you, it's good to find out I'm not the only one! Edit: typo -
What about a pause button?
Edrin replied to Edrin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, I didn't get it finishing BG, BG 2 and its expansion twice, and 80 hours of pillars. I don't think I ever will. And this shortcut key seems so easy to implement… -
I mean, a real one. Not a pause toggle. One that only pauses the game, that does not unpause it. I'm pretty tired of trying to pause, and then an automatic pause occurs, just at the right moment, and in effect, I unpaused the game. As often as not, if I hit space again, I may unpause it again. This often happen several times in a row, and it's quite annoying. Now, I suppose some will think that I don't like automatic pause, for some reason. But mind you, if I did activate them, it's because I do want them! Hope someone with some power will read this, like it, and make it happen. I know, I'm a bit of a dreamer…
