From what I've read it appears that party AI may be introduced to the game as early as the v1.07 patch. That's if the AI related strings that were accidently uploaded with the last 1.06 hotfix are anything to go by. IMO it might be worth waiting for the next patch before starting a new game.

I'm not sure that this is the correct thread to post this, but I've noticed that some strings are missing in relation to the (newish) window where you can change/customise your main character's portrait and voice set. For example, the window heading "Customize" doesn't appear to have a localisation string at all. May I request for the missing strings from this window to be added for all languages?
