  1. I took one of those skills that gives you DR shock and shock damage, I was using a sword with Shocking Lash and gloves with +2 Mechanics (I think you find these right next to the Ogre matron in the Endless Paths) which is supposed to boost traps accuracy increasing your chances of getting better petrified times.

Also I had a good +2 might sleep and some "quite time" with one of the guys in the ondra's brothels + dragon meal. Though, I haven't tested thoroughly, so I'm not sure if any of these damage boosts take effect on traps.

I first tried to have the adra beatle throw his lightning spell on him for extra damage but the little guy kept missing :p

If you're doing trials of iron, I wouldn't recommend doing this at all. You might be able to kill the Adra Dragon but there are still a few adragans that can petrified you to death if you get unlucky.

  2. Yea well now ive done it im never playing trial of iron again. There are too many save or die situations that i had to spend ages figuring out my way around and tbh having two save games running made it twice as tedious. Like, i like a challenge but a lot of them you just had to whip out figurines to absorb the petrify/paralyse and burst down fast enough. Also the adra dragon was in no way worth killing, i mean maybe in a group it wouldnt be such a game over situation.

Great effort Ceranai. I'm thinking when I get around to doing triple crown solo, Chanter will be the class I choose as well. It's definitely my favorite class so far.

Right now, I'm waiting for a couple more patches before I play any further. Stuff keeps breaking/getting changed too much with the last couple of patches, and I've only got so much patience for playing over the same content so many times ;)

Couldn't agree more. I've just finished my first non-iron PotD solo, after a few frustated (or frustrating?) runs. There are way too many random things. Just to name a few:

    - Lost a level 9 TCS character to a trap while trying to run to a better place to fight. I mean, I just died to it, it was a poisonous cloud trap that in now way could do enough damage to kill me.

    - There are too enemies that can perma-something you. Forest lurker can perma-stuck you and if you don't have a long range weapon or a large weapon, you can do anything but hope they'll miss a hit. Same goes for Spiders (can't remember the name, but the first ones you come across in the game), they can perma-stuck you and they have a really high attack speed. I had to reload many times because of that, they were in no way close to killing me but I just couldn't move so after a few minutes of just watching my guy say "can't move" I just end up reloading my game.

    - Petrified is just ridiculous. Probably the most OP thing in the game. You can kill the adra dragon with one jolting touch while he's petrified (I did). There are several enemies who can petrified you (some even do for 20+ seconds!!)

    - There are some fights where you just need some luck. Fighting a pack of adragans it's just a matter of luck. Yep, petrified again. Say you get petrified for like 5 seconds, if you get petrified again while being petrified... can goes up to 20 seconds. No need to say what could happen then :p

  3. I've finally managed to kill the Adra Dragon solo. As the strategy could be used on any class, I thought I could share. You just need to set a trap right down the stairs, then as soon as the fight starts, just run towards the trap and melt him with a lightning spell (I was using the animancer's boots which grant Jolting Touch)

No need to make a video about it, the screenshot it's self-explainatory :D

    Screenshot here

  4.

    - Sanguine Plate (Task: The Forgotten)

Don't you need Pallegrina to get access to that quest?

Also, Act 1 is a lot of trouble against spirits. Sure, you can use scrolls to shoot them down with 'Fan of Flames', you could get some cool rings, maybe help with the Bronce Horne figurine and what not. Thats ok, but the thing is you need a lot of copper to get your hands in the propper stuff.

I've found my self getting around 1.1k by the time I get to Gilded Vale. After a few easy quests (like the guy in the mill and the blacksmith crate), after picking up every possible loot (by killing everything I can kill and stealing everything without pissing anyone off) and after selling everything I had, I always end up with around 3.5k :p

On my two PotD runs I had to sneak into Raedric's hold to keep stealing stuff and getting xp from disarming traps.

I'm wondering, what's your strategy early on?

  5. Nice to see this thread!

I'm looking at related threads for soloing PotD. So far I've seen 4 builds doing solo there, that is: summoner tanky chanter (cool name!), cipher, riposte tanky rogue and fire godlike retaliation barb.

I'm going to give it a try to a combat wizard. However, I feel like all these run-around based builds can be really dangerous against packs with ranged attacks. Like bandits packs with archers that can hobble you.

  6. I'm giving it a try as well. Made it to Defiance Bay so far. Had a really hard time getting through Caed Nua. After a few tries, I was able to get rid of the shadows and phatoms in the Main Keep by using the Bronze Horne figurine and a Noxious Burst trap (lethal against spirits). Also made Maewald fight against a bunch of spiders and beatles while I run away with Shadow Beyond.

Right now I'm level 5, finally been able to get Riposte and I've gotta say... I'm probably missing something, but is not working as I expected to :p

I barely riposte any enemy, and when it finally happens, the damage is really really low.

Fox example, I tried to kill a Justicier from Defiance Bay:

    Any insight?

  7.

On a different note, you have a lot of reputation in lots of factions, I'm wondering what quest did you do and which you didn't (or tryied to avoid).

Some screenshots on your Journal would be much appriaciated!

Here are the lists of the side quests and tasks that i did :)

(I couldn't manage to kill the dragons with my Rogue)

    Good stuff, thank you!

Looking at your video, I noticed you're using Reckless Assault modal. Considering this build mostly works around retaliation (based on deflection), does the x1.2 melee damage make up for the -8 deflection?

  8. Being Rogue makes the fight easier.

Still, did you try to use the small technique i use where i move my character right before the fight starts ?

Because if you do that, you basically 1v1 Thaos without taking the aggro on the judge!

    Try it

Does this works on the latest patch (1.04)?

    According to patch notes:

    • Game will now pause if you Alt-Tab during a cutscene in full screen mode.
  9. I ended up having something around 48 prestige (50+ with visitors) and 58 (60+ with visitors). Earning about 1k copper and 50~100 copper lost by bandits.

The warden gives you 3 rounds of four enemies to hunt down and a last round of 3 heads. However, I don't think the rewards are good enough. You get 2400 copper for each one + some fine/exceptional items to sell. The last guys you hunt, however, drop some decent stuff, but these fights can be really tough. If I had known this early on, I wouldn't even bother doing bounties at all :p

Prisoners are useless as far as I know. All you get from having prisoners is a slim chance of having someone in the future offer some gold for one of them, but then again, the amount you get from them it doesn't really help at all, I got a 300cp offer for one of them, ignored it and later on got 1200cp for the same guy (which I ignored again).

  10. I had a hard time fightning him with a party of 4 levels 5. I would recommend you to just forget about it for a while and just get back when you have a stronger party level and gear wise. There's a lot of this in PoE in my opinion. Some guys are just to strong to fight them right away when you meet them.

Also, omgFIREBALLS gave you a really good advice :p

  11. As I've just finished the game on normal difficulty, I'm about to jump to hard now. But I want to switch to another class and I was wondering about your endgame (or whatever you are) party records to compare and help me decide which class should I go next

    Particularly:

    - Most enemies defetead

    - Most total damage done

    - Hightest single target damage

    - Most crits

    - Most hits

    - Most damage taken

    - Most times knocked out

In mine you could easily see that most of my battles were just Edér getting all the attention while Aloth dealt AoE.

I'd like to see some of yours as well :D

  12. Got this quest via storyline.

Take vision from god Galawain, where i run from bear through thorns, after thorns came to field where lion was, and lion start fighting with bear and i run.

After that i found place ingame where need bring this prophecy to life, i use my class path in dialogue to start escape from bear - Oernos to Snul (lion) field, Bear with 2 adds, near lion also 2 adds + 2 unnamed npc and Irency, when i came close to lion nothing changed in aggro list 4 main bear - oernos,  Adds fight with adds and npc, but Snul stand on place and Oernos continue try capture me, also thorn wall unawailable in combat.

Wut i doing wrong? I wanna clear fulfill the prophecy, but i cannot, i can complete quest via killing bear or lion by my hand, but possibly here exist way to make all like in vision?

    +1

Same here. I was trying to have them fight each other but couldn't. Both sticked on me and thorns was unavailable during combat.

  13. Thanks for the post and the save game data - much appreciated!

Once you've cleared a way for Esmar then he's not so kindly going to give his freedom for the sake of his men unless he felt that something else prevented their escape (e.g. if you had become a new threat).

Still, I'll take a look at this and post an update.

    Jorge

    Thanks for you reply!

Well, I was a threat myself when I killed, however this turns out in failing the quest eventhough I did what the Fangs wanted (ignoring the fact that he won't beg for his life after I do so). Furthermore, Captain Esmar needs to be notified that the path is clear, which I did not :/

  14. During the quest "At the Mercy of the Tribes" you come across a conflict between the Fangs and a group of Dyrwoodan scouts commanded by Mercenary Captain Esmar.

Captain Esmar is one of the guys you can take prisoner to your Stronghold. This happen only if you convice the Fang tribe to let the scouts go. They will only agree to let them go free if you punish Captain Esmar.

    What did I do?

    - I talked with both of them. Captain Esmar wanted me to clear a route for them to scape. The Fangs wanted me to get rid of the other guys.

    - I didn't have enough Twin Elms reputation to convice the fangs. So, I just continued to explore the zone.

    - Accidentally, I came accross a pack of wolf-like beasts which I killed.

    - Quest update came up saying I've cleared the way. Now I can talk to Captain Esmar and tell him the way is clear.

    - Well, I didn't. I've completed "Hunter, Brother".

    - Now with enough Twin Elms reputations, conviced the Fangs to let the scouts free. They want their captain to pay for his deeds.

    What happened?

    - I go and talk to Captain Esmar

    - There's no speech line to tell him about this. Is either "I've cleared the northen woods" or "[Attack] I've decided to help the Glanfathans".

    - If I choose to attack him, Captain Esmar does not beg for his life letting me hold him prisoner (he just dies) and I get a "Quest Failed" log.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Edit: You can download the saved game from here.

  15. I was struggling with the same thing. This actually happens to not be a bug, you just need a high mechanic level on someone on your party (not sure how much, tho, but I got it with 9).

However, imo, it would be way more intuitive for this things to be found based on Stealth skills rather than Mechancis. Maybe Stealth kills to find, Mechanics to activate hidden controls.
