  1. On the subject of why they stopped making these style of games, besides the console reason, I believe there's also the fact that reviews of Icewind Dale 2 (the last IE game to come out) mentioned that the Infinity Engine was really starting to show its age at the time. Also, the first person style of RPG was gaining popularity then. And first person shooters were starting to dominate the landscape too. I'm not saying these were the only reasons, but I think it had a lot to do with it.
  2. I have no idea if this is a bug, but I figured I'd report it. When I started the game tonight, I hit "continue". It loaded me at a point that seemed to be a minute or two before my final save. It didn't really affect me, though, so I played through. I used the quick save during the session, but never died, so I didn't have to reload at any point. When I finished for the night and tried to save, I realized all my saves (except for auto-save and quick save) were gone. I think when I signed on this evening and hit "continue", the game started me at my previous quick save, which was probably why it started me a minute or two before my final save. I just restarted the game and my final save of tonight is still there. I don't know if this is some fluke that wiped out my saved games, but I figured you'd want to know.
  3. Thank you very much, Kimuji! That was exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to bring Kana back into my party now so I can practice the class. Not sure why I was struggling with it, but you cleared it up nicely.
  4. ::sigh:: I hate to sound like an idiot, but I don't understand how the chants work. The chanter sounds like fun, but when I tried to use Kana in my party, I had no idea what I was doing. I love the idea of the chanter and want to run my next character as one, but I don't understand the mechanics of the class. As near as I can tell, the chant is automatically activated at the start of combat. Does it then stay active for the fight even if the chanter is actively fighting? And my understanding is I'm supposed to run three chants together...how do I build the chant? Am I supposed to find or buy other parts to the chants? And how does summoning work into it? I know there's a delay before a summoning is possible, but I'm not sure how to set up for a summons. Any help would be appreciated. I'm playing a cipher right now (I love the cipher!), so I'm understanding the mechanics of the game without a problem...it's just the chanter abilities that are eluding me.
  5. I pre-ordered the game through Steam over the weekend. I'm a non-backer. I've been looking forward to this game for quite a while. I'm fine with the price point and have cleared my schedule for the weekend (except for a funeral that I can't get out of. Not my own.) because I deserve this. Go me.
