  1. Looking at the website's progess report, from an outsider's perspective, the project looks as though its dead in the water. Up until someone leaked a version of the mod, the project didn't show any visual signs of movement. I guess we are back to stage one again where the progress reports have stalled.
Just to be clear, the leaked beta had nothing to do with the progress made in the summer. They just had more free time then. Believe me or not, but it's true.
  2. There's Real Life, of course. Dash & others are busy with other things. As for other team members retiring: only Aurora has "officially" declared "retired" from the team. It's likely that others have abandoned, too, or are just doing other things at the moment. Dashus, JDNoa & Tupac Amaru are the main figures at the moment. I don't know what became of Razorfish, Kiwegapa, forcesaken, but with most of the content restored, their aid isn't vital for the project's future anymore (The content they were assigned to are largely already in the latest TSLRP build). Savvy's been on-line just yesterday on the TG Forums, but I'm guessing her job is pretty much done.

Same goes for the original Beta Team, though some are still active from time to time.

  3. There's really nothing to work with. Scraps of the HK factory somehow made it to the xbox version, and are now being used for the TSLRP, I guess it's possible that something about Bao-Dur and the solo mission in which he supposedly died might be found there as well.
Not really. Grenn does mention Bao-Dur being gone when you land on Citadel Station, but it's not like it gives a clue as to what happened to him.
  4. I think it's easier for the team when bugs are posted on Mantis. The Discussions forum is just that, for discussions. Any bug report that gets posted in the Discussions forum is asked to put on Mantis, including text errors.

Hmmm, fair enough. Another game I play though has such a seperate typo list forum (while using Mantis too), and it seems to work far more efficient. Of course that is on one assumption, just mentioning it.

Don't know how much more efficient you could get. In any case, text issues can be resolved very quickly, so having them listed in a different forum or keeping it with the other bugs doesn't make that much of a difference.

    ...

I can savely say it is only a display issues (combat logs show far higher damage output than the maximum of damage displayed) and have only seen it on the Zabrak Vibroblade.

Alright, I'll keep my eyes open.
  5. Last of all a question for anyone inside the TSL team. I am not sure wheter this is a bug or intentional, so it is not below, but I still find it worthy mentioning. It's about the HK-factory:

The mindwipe from the droid. Does it do anything? Considering the droids mention on second Generator disable try you "somehow forgot about the threat" I believe that should only trigger after being mind-wiped (forgetting that you hurt them with that), but that isn't required now. All in all I think it should be; Generator, get reminded, disable comm, mind-wipe to forget the threat (could be done before disabling comm too ofcourse). But right now the last step isn't needed at all. Am I just wrong in my assumptions, and think too much into a single line or convo or is it a genuine bug?

I'll have to check that out, don't have an answer right now.

I think TG got a special forumthread in their hidden bughunting forum for spelling errors, not? If not, it would really be worth considering, as they are too minor to spam Mantis over with (getting complains from forumgoers "gah, they fixed the major bug of the missing, where is the mod!!!"), and would be a nice gathering place. It's not like they take too long to fix, and this might give Dashus and other members a far quicker overview of typo's needing adjustment than having to browse 12 mantis reports.

    * Display issue with bonus physical damage when upgrading the Zabrak Vibroblade
    Could you elaborate?

    * Having said that; would final TSLRP change some skill/feat discriptions to match their actual uses (Master Flurry and the various defense feats for example) even if the skills are not changed to match the descrip because no balancing changes are made?
The descriptions stay, as far as I know. Only when there are spelling errors do they get edited.

  6. No offense but... Several people got the same major/crash bugs (T3 in party on Nar Shaddaa, HK encounters and press "1" during Atris-Kreia convo) yet none of the beta-testers managed to find them and report on Mantis. I know that Betas try their best, but the ammount of same bugs reports from people who downloaded 1.0b8 makes me positive that these bugs are indeed there and I really wouldn't want to expierience them while playing TSLRP myself.
There are still known bugs not reported to Mantis, yes. Some of them are discussed on the Beta Discussion section of the TG forums. We will report them in due time. Rest assured that I will do my best to get as many bugs out of TSLRP. I also have Hassat Hunter's list in front of my nose, so I can check every bug that's on that list (some of the major bugs you mentioned I have already encountered, too).
  7. Shifting gears while staying on the subject -- http://www.quantcast.com/team-gizka.org

Sometimes I like reading statistical data. Children between the ages of 13-17 are more likely to visit team-gizka's site than any other age group. In the month of May, team-gizka had it's lowest visits for 2008. Rebound visits could be the result of the leak, but I'm only making an assumption. I don't know if there is any truth to what I said. How reliable is Quancast.com? 20,000 visits in feburary is still incredible. Wow! :shifty:

Got another one for you, then: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_.../team-gizka.org :(

  8. From an fellow by the name of kepakiano (all credit goes to him):
i have a solution to a bug on knights of the old republic II. several users have complained that their game crashed, after they left onderon starport. i just had the same problem running the game on winXP, i left the starport and the game crashed, time after time. so i booted linux (kubuntu 7.10) and started the game using wine (version 0.9.59). i left the starport and the game did in fact not crash.
Please let me know if this works for you guys. I'll be sure to let kepakiano know too!

Sorry for bringing back a months old topic, but I had this same problem a few days ago. Because I don't have Linux, I couldn't try kepakiano's idea, however, inspired by this idea, I copied my savegame just before the Merchant Quarter (at the Iziz Starport) to my Kotor2 install on my Vista Laptop (from a Xp Desktop PC) and tried it. And it worked! Copied back my savegame, saved at the start of the Merchant Quarter to my XP computer, and everything worked fine. Problem solved. Just wanted to let you guys know if you had this problem, this is a possible way to fix it.
  9. If you're talking about the Jedi Order as an organization, then it'd be the Jedi Order during the Sith Wars for sure. The Jedi Order during the Clone Wars was too involved in politics, was blinded by arrogance and let the Chosen One slip out of their hands because of their fear for the dark side. If you're talking about their heroes, I'd still go for the Old Jedi Order, because with Jedi Like Nomi Sunrider, Odan-Urr, the Qel-Droma's, Thon, Arca Jeth, Revan, Malak, the Exile, Bastila, Kavar, Vrook, you have the most powerful and gifted Jedi for a long time, and Jedi Like Yoda, Windu and Kenobi, who are still formidable, don't match up against these legends.

  10. I found the quotes. Here's what Kreia says: "And there is something that the Council may never understand. That perhaps Revan never fell. The difference between a fall and a sacrifice is sometimes difficult, but I feel that Revan understood that difference, more than anyone knew. The galaxy would have fallen if Revan had not gone to war. Perhaps he became the dark lord out of necessity, to prevent a greater evil. I do not believe the Jedi Council changed Revan, as they claimed. They merely stripped away the surface, and allowed the true self to emerge again - someone who was willing to wage war to save others. "

The Exile defied the council as much as Revan did by going to war, and both went to save the people on the Outer Rim. Revan, however, knew more than the Exile knew, something he shared with no one, perhaps not even his own apprentice.

But I do agree, though, that both were great Jedi, both in strength and in their accomplishments.

  11. I prefer Revan. I acknowledge the much more depth in the Exile's character, but KotOR2 did also give Revan more depth, and I like how he's being portrayed in KotOR2.

    @exile025:

1: That's just assuming. Revan had many teachers, all having a big reputation. We don't know anything about the Exile's teacher(s), and Kreia trained both, so we can't use her as a factor.

2: There's still some debate as to if Revan really turned to the dark side. I don't remember the exact quote, but Kreia said something about Revan not turning at all, but just doing what was necessary.

3: Living without the Force must've been hard, and it's admirable how the Exile could survive and not break down without it, but if it did make her stronger, then only mentally, not physically.

4: I wouldn't say Malak was incompetent, he just was stupid, but that doesn't mean he can be dangerous. If we look at the three Sith the Exile had to defeat, we have a Sith that hungers, and while being very powerful, was weakened because he tried to feed on the Exile, who was a wound in the Force, which enabled the Exile, who, let's not forget, had two companions with him, to kill the Lord of Hunger; we have a Sith that lives on pain, and cannot be killed by normal means, but who is emotionally not that strong, and is being used as another pawn in Kreia's game, which could mean that the Lord of Pain wasn't that powerful anyway, who was in the end defeated by persuading him to let go; and then we have the Lord of Betrayal, who's strength lies not in battle, but in the manipulation of events and people, who already was a old woman, not any longer the strong Jedi Master she was decades ago, someone who was stripped of her strength by two Sith Lords. Okay, now I make it sound like they were push-overs, but Malak is as worthy as those, though his strength lies in his skill with a lightsaber, not in feeding on the Force, not holding himself together through pain, not being the smart manipulator who could shape events just through words.

5: The Mandalorian Wars and the Sith Civil War were two entirely different conflicts, and let's not forget the Exile had some help, too. And as far as I know, Revan defeated Mandalore and Yusanis face-to-face, just as the Exile defeated the three Sith Lords.

  12. At final convo, she says something like this (not the exact words) "perhaps it was a mistake to make you feel the Force again", basically admitting to reconnecting you forcefully.

"make" does seem to imply she made the Exile feel the Force again, though maybe it just means she just "helped" the Exile feel it again, guided her when the Exile could feel the Force by herself again. It does seem strange, since Kreia didn't know how and why the Exile was cut off from the Force, but she knows how to bring it back. In any way, I thought the Exile fed on life (using the bond she created with her companions, and drawing on the strength of thsoe around her), not on death.

  13. Well, they're opposites in a way, but since the Exile is supposed to be a cypher, her strength would depend on what's around her, as you said... if there was NOTHING around her, she'd be pretty evenly matched against Revan, right? If there as something else to draw from, she'd be stronger...

Of course, being stronger in the Force doesn't necessarily equate to being a better fighter / strategist / Jedi... so... there's still some room for debate, I guess...

What really bakes my noodle in this case is whether or not the Exile would be able to draw strength FROM Revan.

If she could, either her power would become tremendous, or the sheer power of Revan would be too much for her to handle, I think.
