Maybe you guys didn't see th above. Appareently my computer was around since 1999 and is so old it has problems with K1-2 and ATI. And with the recent scary problem and not being able to correct the driver issue even in safe mode and using a driver sweeper to get stuff out the independent tech suggested I get a computer from dell that has xp and plays KOTOR. So guys my max budget is 1500 dollars. So lets put togehter a dream KOTOR computer. This current computere I'm on right now will simply be used for e-mail, internet, and storage since it has a 230GB harddrive. Other than that the RA is so out of date and so is everything else. So this new computer will be the game machine and this computer wil be the just normal stuff. I hope they get Vista to work with KOTOR 1-2 someday. But anyway, let's build that dream KOTOR comptuer. Let's come up with specs and tell me. I'll in a few months call up Dell, give them the specs, and you guys if there is any configurations you say I should do great. I would like the video card to be a NVIDA since that is what works best with it correct? Thanks.

Well it turns out my computer is too old to play KOTOR well without problems. I just had an independent tech come over an fix a problem with the ATI Catylist. I was exploring its control panel and I accidentally clicked tha autolasing 2x option. When I did so it froxe and the independdent tech had to fix it, but it really frightened me. It was a wake up call that this comptuer has troubles with updates in that it restarts when I even try to play KOTOR. So I need a new computer. This old one wil simply be for internet, e-mail, storage(230GB hard drive), and pictures stuff. But I would like a computer that is made to run KOTOR. The independent tech suggested I call up Dell and ask them to build a computer to do this, and to tell them I want XP on it. Not Vista. I learned KOTOR doesn't work well with Vista. So what I want is a pc that runs kotor, has xp, and please come up with the specs for the dream KOTOR 1-2 pc so I can tell Dell to build it. My max budget is 1500 dollars. Thanks.

What ATI Driver to not update past?
SD Nihil replied to SD Nihil's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Thanks. -
I have an ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 series card and I've heard that later updates give K2 problems. My question is what driver update should I not update past? Also with the last installation of the ATI Suite, it installed something caled Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. But there are two instances of this in the Add/Remove programs list and the other instance is 4MB in size and the other is 5MB in size. Which one should I remove? Also if I were to change to a NVIDA card for K2 is thre some list of recommended NVIDA cards for K2? And does that list tell you also what drivers not to update past due to K2's issues with later driver updates? Thanks.

Hello anyone use ATI Radeon cards, upgraded the right way as I've said, and knows whether or not there is a certain version of the drivers where problems with KOTOR 1-2 start?
-
I have an ATI Radeon 9550/1050 graphics card. I've been talking with on the Tech Support section of LF forums about an issue I'm having. The last update Cataylist Bundle 7.11 November 2007 update that I've had problems with K1 and K2. Ever since the Dec 2007 when you'd do force speed you'd see circuit board bars on the screen. Then the Jan 2008 when I'd launch K1 and K2 my compute would restart. So I told this to LF's Tech Support guys. And what I found out is that I've all this time been doing my updateing wrong. Each time there was an update I'd just download the update and install it and not get rid of the prior update. I didn't think I'd have to do that. I always though an older version is replaced by a new one. I was wrong. What I've learned is you've got to do this. Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the ATI Uninstall Utility and say yes to the recommended choice of just removing the driver only. Restart, but while it restarts tap F8 until you get the option to go to Safe Mode. Do so. Say cancel to any of the plug and play screens that come up and don't insert any ATI disc. From here do DriverSweeper or some program like it. Restart into Normal mode and install the desired update. Here's my question though. Since in the past I did it wrong of updating by overwritting which I shouldn't have done in the past. So I'm not sure if it's because of my overwritting or is it because past a certain driver that K1 and K2 really does start to have problems. So the people I want to hear from are those who did the driver installing correctly by using a sweeper and getting rid of the prior update and putting in the new update. Those people I believe have the answer of which updates work and which ones are the ones that start to have problems. This will save me time rather than me having to install until I get a bad update. This will save me time of having to see if it was my fault that I had problems or if it really is that certain updates do have problems past a certain driver update. Thanks guys.

That's why while I'm gutting them I turn on my ipod. Crank up some insane heavy Sith metal. Heck, sometimes I don't even put on ear plugs. Sometimes I want it to be the last thing the fishy hears. Or I might show fishy a picture of a family member I've just prepared to eat. "You will look at this while I gut you fishy." "This shall be the last thing you see." "So look at the picture Mr. fishy." Since their heads are bigger thy don't pop off like Jedi heads. They just pop and slide. Meaning they pop off and slide all the bloody head way down to their fishy tails. <sigh> What fun. It's also fun to threaten them with bodily harm to another family member if the fishy doesn't say wee as I gut him.

I did. That's why I'm now called SD Nihil. Well, actually I got an admin to change my name. Anyway, with concern to the banner, is it now too small? I'm using Microsoft photo editor to size it. Unfortunantly it sizes by percent. Is it good, or too small now, or what?

I'll take care of it tomarrow. I've received pms and comments about it too. Oh and security skill, ha, we Sith need no security skill. All you have to do is stick a dark saber through a door to get it open. And hey, if you get lucky you might get lucky and also cut clean through a Jedi's back. Or at least some sissy kathar. Also gutting a calamari also is good too. Yum. Fish kabob. A moment of silence please while I reflect upon my recent saber in the back victim. I find it quite soothing. <exhale>. Whatever it was sure squirmed a lot. It made it hard pushing the saber all the way through. Oh well at least it provided some entertainment. Usually when you stab Jedi in the back they just slump over as the saber burns all the way up from the back up to the neck. And then the head pops off. Pop goes the Jedi. Wee. <sigh>

Yep. If there is anything about KOTOR 3 that is official and not a rumor I check it.
Rumors I find are usually wrong anyway. And why get your hopes up about rumors some loser in his basement who still lives with his mom thinks.
Yup I'm a red stater. I don't care who I offend. Ye ho. No I'm not a cowboy or from Texas.
I wish. Because then my obsession -
Yes you can close it. I got my named changed now. Thanks. I hope my banner isn't too big.

Sent a message to him. Awaiting response. Thanks.

Is it possible to get a new display name? I have one in mind that is more Star Wars like. Can my display name be changed, or do I simply have to create a new account.
-
Thank you.

Does anyone know of a mod that gives your character the armor Darth Bandon wore in KOTOR 1? I don't mean the dark robe. I mean the metal plating one. The kind the dark jedi fighting the light side jedi on the Endar Spire wore. I would like the armor for either K1 or K2. Thanks.

Yet again anohter ATI card issue
SD Nihil replied to SD Nihil's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Which month is that driver update your recommending? Also since yours is a 1600pro does that mean my x1050 is not really up to standard as far as video cards are concerned? Have people tried to e-mail, forum post, things like that to push ATI to correct this issue? Thanks for responding to my thread and for your recommendations. -
Yet again anohter ATI card issue
SD Nihil replied to SD Nihil's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes this is a triple post. But I have yet to get a response. I don't believe my problem is un common. The ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 Series Video Card is a current card of today. I'm sure there are others with ATI card who update them regularly and still play KOTOR 2, If so you should have also noticed this strange graphical error too. And since there are those out there still buying KOTOR 2 I'm sure Obsidian wants their product to work with todays cards and updates. I don't think they would like that an ATI card update prevents their fan base from seeing their KOTOR 2 character using force speed. I would like some help please to resolve this error. This problem didn't happen in the January ATI update. It happened since the February update. Something's wrong in the February update. I've determined I don't need the ATI Cytalist Contol Center. So I just need help with the rest. Please someone respond back and help me. Just like the time before with my last graphic issue. Which I'm happy someone then came along and helped me. -
Yet again anohter ATI card issue
SD Nihil replied to SD Nihil's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I've tried asking on the what the tech forum and they say since this is a game specific graphic issue I am to ask on a forum related to the game. What better than Obsiden the maker of the game. So yeah would like some help please. I remember I got some help last time a video card issue here by a helpful fella here. I hope I can get some help again please. Thanks. -
recently downloaded the February updates for my ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 Series Video Card. Since then KOTOR 2 I notice some strange things that never happened before. Overall it looks better, but a few things like when your running it's supposed to make things blur like your going fast. Instead I get things like white lines, weierd circuit board looking bars, or sometimes things will get dark. Only happens when I use Force Speed. Otherwise everything looks fine.http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp As you can see So I wondering could it be because of the bundle I downloaded and that I simply should have only downloaded the driver updates? What I downloaded is this: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html and then selected Windows XP Professional/Home>Radeon>9550 Series or X1050. You can do either they lead you to the same place. I then ended up here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst...p=xp/radeonx-xp I downloaded as always the Catylyst Suite. So what is the Catalyst Control Center and WDM Integrated Drivers for? Should I keep those or just simply keep the display drivers? Simply trying to find out why the last time I updated I didn't have this problem and why now that I do. My computer is a 2001 Dell Intel Pentium 4 XP Pro with 1024 MB of DDR RAM. It use to have a hard drive capacity of about 50GB disk space. But now has 200 GB disk space. The video card use to be a NVIDIA GeForce MX 420. Now it is an ATI Radeon 9550 /X1050 Series video card. So what would you suggest I do to resolve this issue with this 2005 game with regards to the driver software issues, what do I not need and what's what, and anything else that you can suggest? Thank you.
-
Thanks. That was easy it worked. Final question though. I know how to flip my lightsabers around in my hands in the xbox version. But how do you do that in the PC version?
-
Where in KSE do I go to edit that?
-
So there isn't a mod that gives you force crush early? And I know how to flip my sabers around in the xbox version, but not in the PC version. How do you flip them in the PC version?
-
Oh. Didn't notice that. Wish there was a way of getting taht power earlier in the game. Any mod that can do that? Also what about my Dark Jedi question. When I look at their status even though I told them to be a Dark Jedi their status for example Handmaiden still says Soldier Jedi Guardian. Not Dark Jedi Guardian.
