I have to say that - at the moment I am about 3/4 through the game after playing it for about 30 hours (I'm taking my time exploring everwhere). From what I have seen at the moment the story and plot has been superb. There were a couple of small irritating bugs I had to endure. Minor ones such as not seeing people talking correctly (as they were behind a door etc..) and frame rate problems due to Dantooine (turning off soft shadows fixed that). But otherwise I am very happy with the game (so far..) I believe that Obsidian has a very strong writing team and that once Obsidian are a bit more established (as a company - I know the writers etc.. have worked on some amazing titles in the past) then they wll be able to control the production/contract process a little more. This is showed by KOTOR1 as Bioware (one of the largest and most respected games software developers out there) could reasonably influence the timetable of development and release. To ensure that their QA teams had been through the game thoroughly before it it was given to Lucasarts QA (who I have a low opinion of). And as said in another thread, one simple patch for some text errors is already out (for international versions) and a new patch is in the making. So I don't believe that we are going to be left out in the cold with a buggy game forever. I hope that both Obsidian and Lucasarts will use this as a learning experience. Oh and if any of the Developers are reading this... any chance you can put the REAL ending back in with the new patch. (I'm sure the community could arrange a few beers if need be!) Now I know I shouldn't be baited.. as I know better.. But I couldn't resist. Just to point out "Baby" it was the first computer that could store not only data but any (short!) user program in electronic memory and process it at electronic speed, was developed in Manchester UK http://www.computer50.org/ Not that I come from anywhere near manchester (or went to the University of Manchester) or anything like that.. oh no.. never!

Funny.. I'm in the UK.. We got a manual (printed in colour and everything!). As I said above, it's not just the manual.pdf.. if you actually look at what the patch does when it installs

I presume (as the Dialog.tlk file has been patched) that some of the spelling errors have been fixed. I can't see them releasing a patch that "just" contains a manual. And if it did, why increase the version number of the game.

[uPDATE] From Lucasarts: These patches are for the International Language versions of the game only. The updates cure some ingame text issues, as well as update the game documentation. I've heard that these changes re: Hayden at the end etc.. are going to be explained in Episode III. We shall see..

Oh I understand why it was done. A rather good idea in my opinion. You can almost see how Lucas is knitting the whole plot together through slight changes in the films that reflect the later films (ie, the earlier parts of the story).

Talking of changes made in the DVD version. Did anyone else notice the end of "Return of the Jedi". The bit during the celebration when Luke turns and sees Ben, Yoda and his Father as Force Ghosts.. His father is no longer the guy in the original cut - but Haydan Christiansen (sp)!
