  1. Ok. So I have heard from a lot of people how crappy the ending was. While I agree that it did roll those credits a bit abruptly, without any kind of decent prologue, I found the ending little different from the first KOTOR. Now, I'm not sure what kind of choices people made throughout the game, particularly at the end, but Kreia gave me a full prologue on what would happen to each pertinent character and planet. Now I have to play through it again because it seems I did the planets almost completely in the wrong order. It seemed as though there was supposed to be more to the game than what I experienced. For instance, there was a line of discussion on HK about finding the factory that the HK-50's are made, but that story didn't go anywhere and I couldn't get any more influence with him (to get him to talk about his former master). Also, there was a thing with Goto and talking about his operations. Did I miss something there as well? I couldn't get any more influence with him though. Not to mention that I could barely get anything out of Mandalore. It just seemed as though I missed some parts that were unavailable to me due to the order in which I carried things out. Bear in mind I was Mr. Friggin boyscout, pure light side all the way. Didn't ask for any rewards, no ulterior motive, just good old fashioned "help you because I can" help. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
  2. Mine just makes the people blue, gray, or red based on alignment. I can't make out any features, they are just colored polygons, no textures. Radeon 9800 Pro
  3. Driver issue, at least that I've found. I had Cat 4.10 drivers on my comp when I got KOTOR2 and ran into the exact same thing you did. When I upgraded to 5.3 they went away, but then you get another problem when you get to another planet later. Apparently Catalyst 4.11 is the best driver version to use for KOTOR2 when using a Radeon card.
  4. Isn't the patch still going through Quality Assurance to make sure they are indeed fixing the bugs and aren't creating any new ones?
  5. Yes I apologize for the explanation as I assumed too much. I was hoping that by mentioning Catalyst drivers that people would assume they are for Radeon cards only. And yes, adding that line to the ini file will fix the problem. I was just noting that there is another way and I noticed a small performance increase to the Cat 5.3 drivers.
  6. I haven't had a problem yet with my Sound Blaster Live! And I'm talking the Original SBLive, the first version of that line to come out.
  7. What are the specs for your machine (give video driver version too, please)?
  8. Ahhh I understand now. I'm sorry, I wish I could help with that, but I know nothing about that. I'm pretty sure though that there won't be any way to fix that unless you put KOTOR2 into windowed mode. Now if you want to do that, go to swkotor2.ini in the KOTOR2 directory and go under [Display Options] and [Graphics Options] and set FullScreen=0 on both. Now on my video card (Radeon 9800 Pro), I had some problems with doing that. The screen skipped a great deal, however when I turned off Frame Buffer Effects AND Soft Shadows in Advanced Options of the graphics menu in game, it worked like a charm. You can keep Shadows on, but just make sure Soft Shadows and Frame Buffer Effects are off. Also I'd suggest making the resolution of the game less than your monitor's resolution, as it seems that the bottom of the screen will get cutoff. However, I hope somebody has a fix you're looking for.
  9. My apologies, I'm not all that familiar with dual-monitor setups, so forgive me if I sound a bit newbish. Am I understanding correctly that you want it to stay maximized on one monitor and still have access to the other monitor? And you're upset that you have to minimize it everytime you want to access your other monitor? In other words, you want to play in windowed mode?
  10. Actually I fixed it using the fix found in various threads, so I cannot take credit for this. You simply use the ATIopenGL DLL from catalyst 4.11. Here are the steps of installing the 4.11 openGL driver only for use with KOTOR2 (these assume you're using Win XP): Ok, so download the Cat 4.11 drivers from ATI's site. Now you have to get access to the files, so go to install them, but after all the files are expanded in C:\ATI\SUPPORT\patch-dir\ , or whatever directory you put them, just quit the installation, you do not need to install 4.11 on your system, you just need access to the files. Now go into command line. (Start->Run... Type "cmd", w/o quotes). Note: this part MUST be done in the command line. Go to the newly created directory (cd C:\ATI\SUPPORT\patch-dir\, or whatever directory you put them). For reference, the patch-dir on my comp is C:\ATI\SUPPORT\wxp-w2k-8-071-041026a-018719c\ Now you have to go to a specific sub-directory, so type "cd 2KXP_INF\B_18893". Now in here you'll find a bunch of files of type *.dl_. In order to use the OpenGL driver, you have to expand atioglxx.dl_. So here you have a couple options to type: A.) "expand atioglxx.dl_ <Directory of KOTOR2>" or B.) "expand atioglxx.dl_ C:\" The directory in that command specifies to where atioglxx.dl_ will be expanded. So you can either expand it directly into the KOTOR2 directory, or put it somewhere else temporarily and use explorer to copy it to the KOTOR2 directory from there. In order to use the 4.11 OpenGL drivers, you must copy it into the KOTOR2 directory. Edit: Sorry, forgot a step!!! Now you have to go into the directory that you placed the file and RENAME it to "atioglxx.dll" it seems that when it's expanded, it's still called "atioglxx.dl_" and will be unusable until you rename it to .dll . So in order to do this, you need to "cd" to the directory that you expanded the file and type the following: "rename atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll". There is no way to do this from windows, you MUST do it from command line. Sorry about that, I forgot it didn't do that for you. I have found that this helps increase performance. I used to have the same problems as you, finding myself switching between having soft shadows and not. But when I did this, it worked like a charm. I hope it works for you! Good luck man. Edit: I also took that Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 out of my ini file and it runs as smooth as ever, not that it matters if you have it in there or not after performing this. I actually noticed an improvement from before, albeit minor, but an improvement nonetheless.
  11. That did it. Thanks! Sorry about not searching more thoroughly.
  12. Bleh, this is the second time I have to type this out =P. Stupid ESC key. Anyway, I'm having a problem in Dantooine. I landed at the port and when I was looking in the general direction in the area outside of the port, it was REALLY slowed down, I mean we're talking less than 1 frame/sec. So I went into gfx advanced options and turned everything down to minimal and it was fine (duh, right? =)). SO I went into the building and when I came out it was REALLY slow again! I went into gfx advanced options again and turned something up just for the hell of it. Then suddenly the game was smooth again. So now I'm turning smooth shadows on and off everytime I enter and exit a zone. Does anybody else have this problem? Anybody know how to permanently fix it? My solution is merely a band-aid. Specs: 2GHz AMD Athlon XP 2400+ Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB, Catalyst 5.3) Windows XP SP2 Sound Blaster Live! Thanks guys!
  13. I did this and it worked. However, to clarify for the people that are having the same problem, you have to set FullScreen=1 in the [Graphics options] section of the ini file. There is another FullScreen option in the [Display options] section that has apparently nothing to do with the startup fullscreen setting. Thanks for the help!
  14. Just a tad. Ithorians are especially bad when you get those 3-liners goin. At least the Sullustans take a while, even though they gibber like a squirrel.
  15. Now, this isn't a terrible bug that makes the game unplayable, but it's certainly annoying. When I open up KOTOR2, it comes up with that splash screen, and I click Game. When it loads up the game, it loads it up in windowed mode for some reason and forces me to manually maximize the window. As I said this isn't some game destroying bug, but it's certainly annoying and am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it. Once again, Specs are: 2GHz Athlon XP 2400+ Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB, Catalyst 5.3) Windows XP SP2 Sound Blaster Live! (latest drivers) Thanks again! =)
