It is clear that Kevin has actually taken the time to finish the game completely and as a result have been more plagued by the bugs, in contrast to some of the early 10/10 reviews. The minuses he points out are both completely fair.
That seems to be a very fair review and 8/10 is a great score whichever way you look at it. I do not understand why the OP is complaining.

Thank you so much! I have not seen that door.

I have tried to get a addict or a prostitute for him. And killed a guard to see if I could take the meat, but nothing have worked. I really want to solve this.

Does anyone know how to get a victim or some sustenance to Aldheim in Heritage Hill, so he can help you use the machine for your own benifit?
-
I have the exact same bug.

An invite to the launch party was one of the backer rewards at kickstarter, so might only be for certain people.
I think there is a huge difference between a 'launch party' and 'developers going to a club drinking, because they are releasing the game'.

Please stop with that stupid, 'First world problems' meme. Problems are problems.
Agreed. I also think people have to name things in the entire world actually.

It is a unhealthy trait to be so entitled, it is something that will just generally make you unhappy.
They are getting a review copy, that is not meant for the public (that includes the 77.000 backers). That is an unfinished copy, we will get to play the finished game once it is released. It is done to promote the game and to increase sales. Obsidian and Paradox are fully in their own right to decide how to promote the game. -
What I really would like to know is how high Intelect/Resolve/Perception need to be to open new dialogue options. My main char in this type of game always have high charisma because I like to talk my way out of situations, but since PoE have 3 attributes related to dialogue Im kind of lost of how to build my char.
The main thing to remember is that they designed it so that the unlocked dialogue options, are not nescessarily a win-button, just something that your character has the personality to say/do.
Also I believe all stats will be used in dialogue at some point, though not evenly so. It even says in the character creation which stats are for what unlocking which dialogue types. So make the character you feel most like rp'ing.

Nobody knows exactly how much, but there will definitely be some feedback and special dialogue options depending on class.
edit. Also I think if you are in doubt about class, take the one you will enjoy rp'ing (the paladin). Good luck and have fun -
Nice namegenerator! It would be fantastic if it had a culture setting as well. It could be possible that the devs actually patch something similar in at some point, as that should be quite simple.
so Aedyr, Ixamitl Plains and Old Vailia naming conventions should be covered by the link I provided. For Deadfire Archipelegola, Rauatai, The Living lands and The White that Wends, we need to get creative.
Deadfire Archipelegola:
The language has Inuit roots, which has some beautiful names and sounds, so we can probably steal from there.
female: Panninguaq, Nivi, Pipaluk, Ivalu
Male: Malik, Nuka, Pavia, Inunnguaq, Aputsiaq
Furthermore the Inuit diminutive -raq and -nnguaq, which both mean "little/sweet" and are used with names from both genders, e.g. Pipalukraq and Nukaraq
http://www.nordicnames.de/wiki/Greenlandic_Names
Rauatai:
Lots of "auauauai" I guess. Based on the Maori language, so let us look there for inspiration:
Female names: Hauku, Airini, Ahorangi, Whina, Hahana
Male names: Arapeta, Maaka, Matiu, Rua (seems familiar), Marama
http://www.huggies.co.nz/parenting/parents-and-children/maori-baby-names
(I don't feel these fit so well, you probably need to put in some more au.)
The Living lands:
It sounds like a very disorganised place and alot of settlers from other places, so I think names from other cultures are all good. I have not been able to establish what the pre-dominant culture is though
The White that Wends:
The only thing I have been able to establish is that the Pale elves and Boreal elves of the region have seperate and unique languages. And that the language of the pale elves has some roots in Eld Aedyran http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Eld_Aedyran#Eld_Aedyran
The closest we get to names for the pale elves would probably be using the aedyran names or old english/Anglo-saxon names.
Hope this helps a bit and that Josh or some other dev who knows might shed some more light on these unknowns.

Looks like the RockPaperShotgun guy likes it.
“But John!” you cry, “I want to watch them to get an idea of whether I want to buy the game!” Ah, well, like I said, I’m not able to tell you at this point if THE GAME IS REALLY GOOD or not. So you’ll just have to continue not knowing if IT’S DEFINITELY WORTH GETTING for a couple more days.caps/italics are his
Best way to avoid the embargo ever
I hope Obsidian sues RPS for breach of embargo. They really should not be circumventing stuff like this, positive opinions or not. A nice fat settlement should help fund PoE 2 as well.

Here we go:

only for Aedyran, Vailian and Glanfathan names though. I would like to know about The White That Wends- 4

I remember Josh writing some things about the naming conventions (used letters and sounds and such) for the different cultures of Eora. I will try to see if I can find it.

An aggressive tank is awfully tempting, if only because Resolve and Perception are no doubt going to be tied to a lot of the dialogue choices that I'm interested in. But I'm probably going to have to go with a Cipher for the mind control.
Just based off the cipher specific dialogue options in the beta that class has peaked my interest. Some of the most interesting developments as a result of being a cipher.
Question: Does the cipher-specific dialogue also trigger if one of your companions is a cipher and your main is not?
I am really torn over if I should pick a cipher or not, knowing that I will want Mother as a companion the whole way through.

Reviews are out already?
The only "review" I've seen is mmrpg first impressions of which were favorable. Actual review will be out later this week.
Does this one contain any spoilers?
Same question goes for the other ones. If any brave souls can say it when a videos do not have any spoilers.

Does anyone know how to choose between Gog and Steam? I guess it will just be when they give us the key, but want to be sure I have not missed anything.
If I have multiple digital downloads (gifts for friends), do I have to choose the same medium for all of them? -
Looks like interesting characters. I am especially exited to see how Durance's 19 Res is shown in his character.
I was hoping Kana had a more tanky build. It does seem like Durance has a bit tanky stats. Can a priest be frontline in PoE? -
Many pausing, no AI for teammates, no easy access to spells...
Did the OP just describe Baldur's Gate II? It sounds like it to me...
There was very nice party AI options in BG2.
For me no customizable party tactics seems to be the biggest thing missing from PoE. After the release I intend to find out if they plan to patch it in, and if not then I will work on a mod to include it myself.

My guess? That is the sliding XP scale for not having a full party. If he had killed that bear with a party of 6, he probably would have only received 66xp, instead of the 75xp that he did get..
Exactly what I thought. 66 xp * (1 + 15 % ) = 75 xp
I seem to remember the xp increase is 5 % pr. partysize less than 6, so would fit with 3 members.

I collected a bunch of custom portraits early on just cause I like option but now that I'm set playing an Orlan I'm stuck with whatever portraits the game comes with since there really aren't any suitable alternatives out there, and from what I've seen none of them really light my fire. They're not bad by any means, they're all quite good, but none of them stick out to me as my character.
Yeah, the non-standard fantasy races are particularly hard to find. When I tried searching for Godlike, they were either too human or too alien. I didn't bother with Orlan because I knew I would just get a bunch of furry pics.
How about this for a Fire Godlike?
Chandra Nalaar <3
I have been looking at mtg portraits specifically to find some portraits for the unique races of PoE. I look and post them here.

All 3 of these are absolutely beautiful.
In regards to the watermarks, you should do whatever you feel like, and do not get into long forum discussions about your choices. Those discussions are better to have with fellow artists in person anyway.
All these pictures are clearly meant to be cropped anyway and there is intentionally left too much head-space to leave room for the watermark. (My personal preference would also be to not have the faces so centered.) So crop them! Even if they did not have the watermark you would do that anyway, too get the most out of the portrait in the game. -
yes, we have no rogues today.Hm... It partly depends on what companions are available (I'd prefet not to make mercenaries).
Is it confirmed we get no rogue companion?

Why would you think backers are already playing the game? All backers and buyers alike will be able to play the game the 26th.
No voice-over in dialogue
in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Posted
I have no voice-over for dialogues or in combat/movement or when selecting sound set.
Voice volume is set to 100% in settings and all over sounds seem to be working correctly.
