  1. I'm guessing we don't have more information about the blue guy because 1) they haven't finished fleshing him out yet or 2) maybe his backstory is a spoiler?

What bugs me about that drawing is that it looks like at least 3 characters are talking over each other. Maybe the blue guy is chanting? Ha.

I do love how everyone's having beer except Pallegrina, who went with tea (probably herbal) and Aloth went with red wine. Xoti was already my favorite companion, but her putting down 4 beers, even more so.

  2.

Pillars' weapons were the less exaggerated weapons of any fantasy game I've ever played (that had good enough graphics to show details on weapons). Only Battle Brothers "beats" it.

No I don't think Pillars weapons were toofancy. Just about right.

I agree, but Tidefall was huge af.

But it was a great sword made for a "large aumaua".

  3. I thought camping supplies worked well. They're an abstraction of logistical planning without all the messy details.

Agreed. Plus they patched it where you would be able to carry more camping supplies on the easier modes. I would love for Obsidian to go a step further and make your party have to carry food/water at least in the harder modes.

  4.

"Two of the characters that many loved (durance and grieving mother) were for me far too long winded and distant. I had them at my party for mechanical reasons but I hated them to death." I couldn't agree more...

Not sure where you get the idea that Durance and Grieving Mother are well loved... I agree with your statements though.

There was a "favorite companion" poll on Obsidian's front page (or maybe in the forum itself) many moons ago, IIRC #1 was Eder with Durance/Grieving Mother filling out the 2 and 3 positions followed by everyone else.

  5. Hey (you bunch of flatterers)

Loving the lists, stoked we made it on a few. Figured I'd throw mine at you:

    1. Bioshock (Not huge on the RPG side, but I freaking love this game)

    2. Temple of Elemental Evil

    3. Skyrim

Temple of Elemental Evil was the last in the style of CRPGs I loved to play until Wasteland 2/Pillars of Eternity came out, the dark times when first person shooters, Diablo clones and MMORPGs took over the industry. It was buggy as hell and my party reached level cap before even entering the temple. But I will give it props for the tactical combat.

  6. Overall, I just hope the developers stick to the rule of thumb of making the PoE series a spiritual successor to the Infinity Engine games (which was more or less based off of AD&D 2nd Edition rules). I'm all for progress and improvement, but I'm not interested in anything that's going to put it into the realm of something that comes out of Blizzard or Bethesda. Those type of games are already out there for people to play and what soured me on CRPGs in general since 2003 (having played them since 1985). PoE and Wasteland 2 brought me back. Sorry, I'm just reacting to a lot of "complaints" on here the past year or so, plus people suggesting "improvements" that'll turn it into World of Warcraft, Diablo or Skyrim. People complaining about camping supplies? I wish they would go further and make it as difficult as Oregon Trail to get from Point A to Point B and ration out food and maybe have horses to take care of.  ;)
