  1. Ok, but what is to say that after you've completed your Deadfire imported game playthrough you won't do another one just to see what Deadfire has to offer? In which case, are you going to do another PoE playthrough just so you can have a second one at Deadfire to specifically do something?

The more I look at it, the more going bananas is the right option. xD

That's problems for future me, friend. 1 playthrough at a time :p.

2house2fly, boeroer, much appreciated. Just the info I needed.

  2.

I understand, but I completed the game 3 times already(2 after release and 1 after white march p2) and I don't have that much free time to do another playthrough besides this one. I don't expect a perfect playthrough, but tips on the obvious things are much appreciated.

I really dislike it when I screw up a quest because I explore first, quest later.

3 times...you know way more than I ever did. Maybe try stuff you haven't tried yet? Something that is totally contrary to what you usually do.

Well this is a recipe for disaster :p. If I do it your way it's guaranteed that I'll have to redo another playthrough for the Deadfire import save. The purpose of this playthrough isn't necesarily to discover new things but rather avoid things people do because of lack of knowledge. For example, the stronghold quest I only ever experienced on my 3rd playthrough.

And knowing myself what would happen is "Oh, I remember I had to do something here first. Last time I probably did this so now I'll do this." *10min later "Ah ****, that's what I thought last time too, now I gotta redo it"

Personally not too fond of the timers(day/night timer and mission timer). For some you just need to sleep a couple of times, for others you need to quest a bit to continue another questline.

  3. Hey,

I'm going to start a new game since Deadfire will be coming out in a couple o' months.

Does anyone have tips on making sure I don't miss anything?

Like, quests that should be done before x otherwise they're cancelled.

When to do White march? And when to get the special weapons which you can upgrade by killing x monsters(I picked them up too late in the game and I couldn't complete those weapons).

Trying to get a hopefully complete playthrough without following a walkthrough.

    much obliged

  4. Haven't seen all the endings of PoE but it seems to me that doing a continuation (not a side-tracked expansion) would be a buttload of work in making all the endings compatible with the new expansion. Of course if it's a good continuation I won't mind at all, but I'd prefer not feeling like your choices didn't really matter that much.

I would love to have a giant city (not to be confused with a city of giants) to roam around. Defiance Bay was fun, but I wouldn't have minded it if it were 2 or 3 times bigger.

  5. that is what it seems to me, I got a fairly decent security level, and I had a few attacks from stuff below and from bandits, so either the security level is bugged, or security level doesn't do anything? I really dislike the attacks from the endless paths, I have a few of those, skeletons and something else so far, so I would say I have at least 4 bandit raids and 4 attacks from below, (give or take) and my security is about 23. I dont have any hirelings (as there seems to be a few bugs with them) and any companions that you leave at the stronghold doesn't do anything for security either?

so I am under the impression that I'm getting more bad events then good events even though I got a fairly decent security level. not sure if anyone else has that feeling too?

How far are you in the endless paths? Because I can't ever recall an attack coming from the endless paths.

  6.

    A. Load screens too long.

Possible because of a bug so that will be fixed.

My personal annoyance in PoE is that if you pass an enemy (i.e. you want your party member to run to the other side) your PC always engages the target when he nears the enemy instead of moving where you ordered him too. Caused a lot of pain in the final boss battle.

If I'm not mistaken in the option menu there's an option that allows characters to pass by even if the enemy triggers meele engagement.

The characters will still be subjected to a free hit from the enemy because they are trying to break the engagement situation.

Yeah, I would understand it if the enemy would attack the PC(wouldn't bother me that much in that case since it's justified) but it also happens when the enemy is focusing on another PC. So it's not that he's getting engaged by the enemy, it's that he engages the enemy because he's within 1 meter of it.

  7. Biggest problem I have with the Stronghold is that it's just a useless moneysink. You can imprison people, but that doesn't do much. You sometimes have visitors who sell you stuff, but mostly I'm unable to buy it since they appear when I start travelling and 12 hours later(travel time) they're already gone. So I get a message that someone appeared and dissapeared. You have your bounties, which is something I guess. You can have merchants, but you can buy their stuff elsewhere. You can sleep for bonusses, but sleeping in an inn can give you better bonusses. You can have an income of ingredients, which is nice.

But compared BG2 strongholds it's not that interesting. Sure there is more to do in the stronghold here. But the stronghold/class quests you got in BG2 where interesting(some of them at least). At least give me a peasant who cries for justice or a lord who wants what's 'rightfully' his.(and not the bandits who walk in through the front door unattended).

  8. Nowadays it seems a tedious habit to deliver bugged games. When RTW 2 was relesead it got so many bugs that only after a year of patching it partly recovered.

Personally in PoE i experienced only a couple of issues so far, regarding some broken Paladin and Rogue's talents features. But i am getting upset because as my adventure goes on, I feel quite insecure due to lot of bugs reported that keeps you from doing the most normal and simple things.

Shouldn't read the forums then (not critisism, just advice). If it really was a bugfest there would be tons more whining. I've only encountered 1 major bug (unable to complete a minor quest), and a couple of others that ceased when I reloaded a save. Also the loading bug, but I'm not too bothered by it because I check these forums in the meantime.

  9. Can't recall where it was found but there were 2 hints. Forgot the first/second one. Not sure if you actually need a lot of mechanics for this though. But the other one is this

isitors to the Ritual floor. Rectrix Obrica says... redemption for even these...orgot and struck the largest bell first, rather than second..." The rest is illegible

I think the other hint was

    hit the right bell first

    But I'm not sure

You can easily guess it without the other hint though.

  10. Agreed, Citadel isn't that great in hindsight. It was fan-wankery like you said. And it was good for the reasons you stated already (Grunt was worth the money).

I'm pretty pessimistic about this DLC though. I enjoyed DA:I but their focus on wilderness exploration made the game less fun for me compared to DAO en DA2. Other people surely enjoy it but for me it's just a way to waste my time. Too many find/fetch quests for my blood.

  11. So basically what you want from any future DA:I dlc is something unreasonably expensive, difficult and time-consuming? And you'd also like all of the voice actors to pop in and say "Hi"?

What I desire from future DLC is something more than just a rehash if I'm paying 15 euros for it. Of course I'm aware of the current DLC trend. But 2 wrongs don't make a right. The ME3 Citadel DLC I found fun. That DLC wasn't for everyone, but it was different and interesting. You have all these interesting things in DAI in which you can expand on, but instead of doing that you create a DLC that doesn't add much substance to the game. So yes, I think it's a shame. That is my opinion. But indirectly stating that it's unreasonable to expect something more than a rehash when you're paying 15 euros (1/4th of the price of the base game, mind you) for it is just bollocks.
