It's just ... easy and smooth.  Probably not as powerful as a Monk build, but the early stage availability of constant recovery & disciplined accuracy makes things VERY noob friendly.  Played both a Crusader and Battlemage to reasonable levels and felt challenged in spots but generally well equipped to deal with things.  

 

Crusader has to be the most noob friendly build I've seen.  [NOTE I AM A NOOB IN DEADFIRE!  :)]  Easy defenses, accuracy on demand, big crits from FoD + Devoted Weapon + Disciplined.  Pop on the leather armor with recovery reduction, equip the whispers of the Endless Paths, profit.
