Is there any reason to choose base chanter over beckoner?

It appears that, overall, taking the beckoner subclass improves summons. If you want to play a well rounded chanter, why wouldn't you just pick beckoner? Does the reduced duration and health really come close to nullifying double summons for -1 phrase?
