You sure you uploaded it correctly?

The only file types allowed for avatars are gif, .jpeg, & .png . (.bmp for example,won't work). Perhaps you tried to upload the wrong type?

Also, make sure the size (both the filesize and the pixel size) is within the limits.

on these boards it isn't as much of a deal, as it says

(This will scale the image down for you if it's too big in pixel size)

 

when you are in that control.

 

At the moment, the boards aren't allowing me to alter either, so it might be more than just the type.
