Unable to build a party to start the adventure path

I have finished the tutorial (I've actually done the tutorial 3 times) and now I'm unable build a party to start the adventure path. I try dragging down Merisiel or Kyra to add to the party but I keep getting sent to the store. It almost appears as though Merisiel and Kyra are unavailable because they are grayed out like the rest of the characters.

Really strange...

 

I must have needed to wait overnight to build my party. Opened up the game this morning and magically Merisiel and Kyra were available to put into a party.

The app restart spell seems to have worked again...
