I typically hire one companion in GV till I get Sagani, but on the occasional playthrough I find I love the hire more then I wanna hear Eder swoon over Itumaak.

 

Last surprise was a Wood Elf pure dex/perception rogue that was supposed to be a mechanics bot but ended up being a pistol packin' momma that just destroyed single targets. (Probably the first rogue I enjoyed, mostly because she was all pistol spec and ended up with bittercut and the quickswap belt for melee lulz... St Garam's Spark  also helped mark for my melee PC too which was a lovely side effect and she really loved Kana's reload chant.
