So after scewing myself by deleting pre-pit savegames (my computer bogs down with more than a dozen saves--for some reason I have no such problem on D:OS, which I am starting to prefer since this debacle), I got advice to use the console to extract my party from the pit.

I can access the console, but the areatransition command doesn't seem to work.  I will type "areatransition valewood east1" and nothing happens, and any other combination of area name and location (north1, west1 etc.) also fail.

What am I doing wrong? Can someone give me a confirmed command that will work to get myself out of the pit?  TIA

(Also, while I understand that I literally am responsible for the predicament that I am in, I did *not* comprehend that the DLC was inaccessible once the main quest was completed.  This is literally the first RPG I have played where that is the case (most will put you into NG with your existing, leveled character or give you the option to roam around before starting a NG with the same, leveled character.)  That was a very poor design decision, and there should have been an express warning to that before entering the pit (sorry "point of no return" tells you nothing about DLC access).)

It should be AR_0704_Valewood, not valewood, I think.

Yes thanks.  "areatransition AR_0704_Valewood North1"  worked.  Nightmare solved, although no more achievements.  Still miffed by the way they implemented DLC access.  Will take me a while to forget about it.
