Bug: Ranger respec, animal companion keeps old abilities

I did a respec on Sagani at level 13, so I could make twinned arrow my main modal and noticed when I was leveling her up that Imatuuk retained all his old companion specific abilities, like takedown and predator's sense in addition to whatever new abilities I picked up.

Well, i know the solution.

After you use respec, choose your attribs and companion(1st level). Then, before leveling level2, exit from character's levelup window.

Then level it up like usual by clicking "+" icon. All talents will stay in the right place.

 

For companions, after using Respec, exit immediately from levelup window, then level it up as usual.

The solution you mention works for the bug where companion talents/abilities affect the ranger instead of the pet. However, the OP's problem is specific to Sagani (because Ituumak is not replaced by a new pet on respec, unlike PC/custom rangers' companions), and there doesn't seem to be an easy workaround for it.

I couldn't find a save with her at level 13, but I found this one with her at level 9, in this case Imatuuk still retains Takedown during respec, but hadn't yet taken Predator's Sense.  When I do the respec it lets me take Brutal Takedown at level 4 because I already have takedown, even though it's usually at a higher level.
