There are magical weapons and armor in the game that seem like they might be unique, but don't have the gold color.

 

For example:

Engwithan Scepter

Crucible Knight Officer Armor

 

And possibly others. Granted, the armor is rather mundane, simply a Fine Plate with a unique name/appearance, so maybe that's on purpose.

This is intended. As though it may seem that they should be unique, there is nothing special about those items other than that they are magical.
