Can no longer enter game at all after update today

Question

Posted

I need help please.  I can no longer enter the game at all after Origin updated the game this morning.  Every time I try to enter the game I get the following error message:

The program or feature  "\??]C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\PillarsOfEternity.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

The foregoing error message is quite odd given the fact that I have already logged 166 hours of gametime on my 64-bit Windows system.

I have attached the file with my system specs.

Can someone please tell me what I must do to fix this error?  Thanks in advance.

Hello, Dalinoth.  I'm sorry for your inconvenience.  The first thing I suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling the game.  I am going to get a key for Origin and see what happens on my end as well.  If that doesn't work please update this thread and we'll go from there.  Thanks!

Hello again, Dalinoth.  No, you will not lose your saves.  They are stored in a different folder on your drive.  The location of that folder can be found in the link on my signature if you want to make extra sure and copy the folder.  You should be given an option inside Origin to remove saved games or not.  Just choose not to.  Thanks for your ongoing support!

I've just discovered (sorry I don't use Origin a lot) that you can right-click on your title in the library and choose 'Repair Game'.  If that doesn't work then go ahead and uninstall and reinstall.  If that still doesn't work please take a screen shot of the exact error and upload it here.  Thanks!
