When I start the game a yellow number (which I believe to be the current FPS) is displayed in the upper left hand corner.  I have no clue how I turned it on, I don't want it displayed, and I have been unable to turn it off. it is quite annoying, sometimes covers up tool tips, and is rather distracting in general.

 

The number is displayed all the time after getting past the splash screens. This includes normal game play, as well as all loading screens.  Any assistance in disabling it would be greatly appreciated.

FrederickT, it sounds like you have FRAPS turned on for video recording.  Try turning that off, that's the only program I know of that adds yellow FPS numbers in the corner of the screen.
