April 26, 201510 yr Hi, I am having some trouble running the game on my Linux machine (Mint 17). I used the tarball from GOG. When I execute the game, it runs fine with the exception that I am unable to save any progress. In the main menu, the "Continue" and "Load Game" buttons are disable and show the message "Loading Save Game", and once in game when I try to save any progress nothing happens (the save picture is blank). If I run the game on root (which I shouldn't), I can save games normally (they are stored in /.local/share/PillarsOfEternity), but for some reason I get no sound at all. I figure this has something to do with permission. Ive tried chmod but nothing changes. Maybe someone here can give me hint. Thanks in advance.
April 29, 201510 yr Solution It may be the running as root that disabled the ability of your user to save games. Have a look on this thread (GOG forums): https://www.gog.com/forum/pillars_of_eternity/unable_to_save_games_using_the_tarball_version_of_the_game_for_linux The directories you should check are listed on this post: https://www.gog.com/forum/pillars_of_eternity/unable_to_save_games_using_the_tarball_version_of_the_game_for_linux/post11 Edited April 29, 201510 yr by vv221 Install easily Pillars of Eternity and its extensions on GNU/Linux
April 30, 201510 yr Author Thank you vv221!!, indeed I found the solution on the GOG thread (I saw you were there ) In any case, it was in the permissions of the .config/unity3d/Obsidian Enterteninment folder .
