Can't get into endless paths

I've done a quick scan through the forums and can't see this issue anywhere else.

 

I'm well into act 3 now and have not been able to get into the endless paths. I've upgraded (almost completely) the stronghold and still the bloody door in the cellar hasn't opened to let me into the second floor of the endless paths:

I think I'm supposed to get in through the door that I've circled on the above screenshot - but it's locked no matter what I do or who I talk to.

 

I read that after killing Maerwald you're supposed to talk to the steward and the endless paths will open up. I did that about 15 hours ago on this play through and still I'm not able to get in :(

 

Am I even looking at the right door to get into the endless paths?

 

If I am, why the hell is it still closed when I have an almost fully level 10 party at the end of act 3!?

You are looking at the wrong door.
