Cannot unlock the chest with required Lock Picks/Mechanics

One of my Support party members are incapable of opening a Locked Chest of Difficulty 7 with the aid of lockpicks. The tooltip over the chest indicates I am able to, however, the lockpicking fails. See the link below for the samegame (And please tell me if I am doing something wrong here - Always good to learn how to do it properly).

I have the same problem. There is a chest in Doemenel Manor that says the difficulty is 7 mechanics OR 6 mechanics with 7 lockpicks. However my rogue with 6 mechanics is unable to open it. I double checked and tried putting 7+ picks in the rogue's inventory and in the stash.
