Cuad Mun door with magic barrier

(Oops - Caed Nua)  Stuck - I can't beat Raedric, so need to progress the Maervald quests.  There's a dootr with a magic barrier on the first level ( prison cells, spiders), I've no idea how to deal with it.  Advice much appreciated!

That's the door that leads to the second level of the Endless Paths. You need to find Maerwald, who is in a room right by where you came in to that level.

He's really easy to miss. The first time around I almost cleared the first level looking for him. The only reason I didn't is because I looked it up before I got that far.
