If I disband one of the scripted NPCs can I get them back like in previous BG games?

Bump. Please answer. 

You mean dismiss them from the party?  If so yes you can get them back and they will level even if they are not in your main party. (according to another post) Every time you leave the inn, you should get a prompt, asking if you want to swap out companions.
