Min-maxing stats and must-have abilities for classes?

I built a Monk with 3 PER and 10 and 9 INT and RES respectively, while maxing out STR, DEX and CON. I see many people max INT over CON, but I thought CON would yield more Wounds over-time.

How do you min-max stats for a particular character? 

 

Secondly, I've been curious, what do you consider to be must-have or must-use abilities/traits/spells for every class?
