Mungri
It feels and looks so similar, and the Wizard you help is similar to Garrick. I cant even remember the names of the town or the wizard.
MattSanderson
Maybe a little bit, but the Gilded Vale seems a lot more downcast and miserable than Beregost was. The constant rain and bodies hanging from the central tree, the religious tensions... it's a bit smaller than Beregost, too, with only the one inn. Beregost holds a special place in my heart! Mungri
It was more to do with the layout, and the smithy and inn are in the same locations.
sparklecat
The whole general area has a very BG1 feel, what with the open wilderness areas around the town.
tinderbox
Agree with a BG1 feel. Outdoors it actually reminds me more of the Friendly Arm Inn surrounds at night for some reason.

The lurking suspicion that you're going to turn a corner and be horribly murdered, perhaps?
