Question about the way DoT is presented.

Howdy,

Just a quick question about DoT.  Abilities and spells (eg. Combustible Wounds) show DoT as (example) "5 Damage Over Time for 20 seconds".
Does it mean that the enemy will suffer 5 damage total over the course of 20 seconds.. or is it 5 damage each second for 20 seconds?


The description is a bit confusing..

The former.

The latter would be expressed as '100 damage over 20 seconds' or possibly '5 damage per second for 20 seconds' 

 

That said, I hope they picked one standard phrase and stuck with it for all DoTs.

Makes me wonder if it means Int makes dot worse by extending duration but not changing the damage value?
