Would it be possible to make it so that clicking on the formation menu a second time closes the menu? That is the most natural way of closing it if you don't want to change your formation IMO, and would make it so that if you click the button and don't want to change your formation, or clicked it by accident that you don't have to make a mouse movement to close the menu.
Using the IE mod for the example, but the functionality is the same.
