The game freezes on the loading screen as soon as I encounter Terrance and Phillip. What do I do???

What Platform?
 

Have you tried switching your companion out to a different one before crossing the river to see if that helps (might not but some problems are fixed that way).

 

If on a PC have you verified your files through STEAM?  Or reinstalled the game on PS3/X360?

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
