Eraydon Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) I just had a thought that I'd like to share and hopefully, the game designers will think about it. I know everyone loved Baldur's Gate II/Throne of Bhaal character interaction-- it enveloped the player into the game and was one of primary reasons we play it over and over... and then over again. Because of that, I really hope that Project Eternity really maximizes the number of character options for the party. Having only 5-- even in a well written game-- leaves much to be desired. You can play the game over and over but if you only have the same 5 characters what happens in that regard (and that regard is one of the primary reasons BGII was such a well-loved, fantastic game) tends to stall by play through 2 and 3. I feel that the game developers really should be able to add more characters /without/ having to reach another 300k/500k every time to be able to add a new character. --Here is why: I know a lot of time goes into each character, but I call upon Gibberling3 as a prime example of fantastic character interation that didn't cost them 300k/500k per character. --Here is a more specific example: Icewind Dale I was entertaining, but the gameplay simply could /NOT/ make up for the lack of character interaction. In Icewind Dale II, the problem remained. So, I went to Gibberling3 and added their Icewind Dale II character mod. I'm not a huge mod fan. In general, I like the game in its *pure* form. But Gibberling3 added a number of characters to IWDII of the quality of BGII. It turned the previously entertaining game into an AMAZING game. There was this moment where I had acquired an important item for a quest-- the necessary item to complete the quest. One of the members of my group was not pleased about my actions and, after a number of dialogue selections, ended up taking the item from me, and breaking it on the ground= effectively removing it from my inventory and my ability to complete the quest. But that aspect was FANTASTIC. I was thrilled that there was that level of dialogue choices and character interactions from a mod. And it didn't stop there. All throughout, the added characters added an unbelievably high level of quality and depth to the game. This is what I'd like to see in the game. More characters and more character depth. And not having to cost another 300k-500k just to get one character. Perhaps you guys should strongly consider asking Gibberling3 to join your team? I don't mean that in a "well you guys are useless"-- don't get me wrong. I know I can't get the correct tone out over the computer. Let me assure you I have never loved any game as much as the Baldur's Gate/IWD series so without a doubt you guys will do an unbelievable job! But I'm just thinking that perhaps you guys could add some more players to your team that might be able to make more characters of the same fantastic quality for less money. I've never been convinced by this argument, mainly because, no matter how cool, stylish, composed, unflappable, manly, or defiant you are, at the end of the day you're also dead. Which is a little too permanent for my liking." "A dozen more questions occurred to me. Not to mention twenty-two possible solutions to each one, sixteen resulting hypotheses and counter- theorems, eight abstract speculations, a quadrilateral equations, two axioms, and a limerick. That's raw intelligence for you." -Bartimaeus
