Phekdra
I did love the backstory for my shiny new sword in Icewind Dale, but almost as important were the fantastic pencil sketches that accompanied it. It was a real shame when later games, including later IE games like Icewind Dale 2 (I think - my memory is getting a little hazy), did away with that. The sketches as much as the history brought it to life. I would love something similar in PE. Still playing through Planescape Torment...
Infinitron
This is pretty much a given, I think. Avellone and co are always talking about how much they loved making these. Edited September 17, 2012 by Infinitron
Shadenuat
Sometimes they overdid it when they could do better by some script work. As an example, how would you like a +5 sword which breaks if you kill a non-evil character? Or a weapon which actually reacts somehow to specific monster the closer you get to him? Or a weapon which gets stronger as you kill good-aligned creatures? There's a whole world of storytelling for unique items out there.
