I really like the idea of this game, and I'm trying to have fun with it. So far the story is relatively interesting, and I like the way it looks. I don't mind the slightly imbalanced shooting or the bugs so much. Saving and loading frequently isn't something that pisses me off - it's a little annoying but not a deal-breaker.

I'm in the middle of the first mission, though, and I'm just about to drop this game like a bad habit. The one thing I can not get past is the twenty seconds it takes me to to turn and look to my left or right. It's taking me forever just to examine the interior of a room when I walk in, and sliding my mouse across the table over and over and over is getting tiring.

I know some of the controls can be tweaked in the .ini files, but I'm not too sure if this problem can be fixed that way. Do any of you guys know of a way to improve this (either an .ini edit or.. anything, really)? It's the only real problem I have with the game so far, but it's killing the experience.

Most commonly, it's been related to frame smoothing and a couple of other ini tweaks (here); I haven't updated that in a good while, but search the PC support forums here and there's been quite a lot of discussion over mouse jerkiness.

You could be talking about a very unsensitive mouse, which is a bit odd, though? Is the mouse problematic in up-down or other movements, and it's just the turning? (In which case, see above)

edit: oh, and APInput.ini has mousesensitivity & a few other mouse settings.

It's not the jerkiness that was bothering me, but you definitely pointed me in the right direction and I appreciate it. Changing the "lookupscale" and "lookrightscale" seems to have done the trick.
