Bart Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I've recently installed KotOR 2 on my computer running windows 7 home edition 64 bit. The problem I'm having is that the game doesn't appear to load at all. all it does is change the brghtness and spin up my cd and after that nothing happens, and the SWKotOR2.exe process disappears from the task manager. I replaced the Mss32.dll, but it didn't help. I tried disabling movies and sound and running in compatibility mode to no effect. Is there anything else I could try? ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 8/11/2010, 00:57:51 Machine name: BART-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100226-1909) Language: Dutch (Regional Setting: Dutch) System Manufacturer: System manufacturer System Model: System Product Name BIOS: BIOS Date: 08/21/08 14:44:41 Ver: 08.00.14 Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Available OS Memory: 4096MB RAM Page File: 1631MB used, 6556MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 32bit Unicode
Orchomene Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Did you install it in C:/Program files (x86) ? If yes, try to install it elsewhere or run the game in admin mode.
Bart Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Did you install it in C:/Program files (x86) ?If yes, try to install it elsewhere or run the game in admin mode. It's not in that folder and I have tried running in admin mode.
Orchomene Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 (edited) Do you launch the game directly or via the launcher ? Did you run the configuration manager at least one time before launching the main program ? If so and still not working, open the swkotor2.ini with a text editor like notepad++ and check the refresh rate, the resolution and verify the compatibility with your monitor. Then disable sound and most of the graphic options and see if it still fails. If with all disabled there is still failure, I can't think about anything but to uninstall properly and reinstall the game. Edited August 12, 2010 by Orchomene
